Great Britain 1976 138 minutes Directed by Nicolas Roeg Screenplay by Paul Mayersberg Based on the novel by Walter Tevis David Bowie is a Stranger from another planet who lands in New Mexico with a British passport under the name Thomas Newton. He sells some rings made of a "rare" metal to a local shop and heads for New York, where he befriends a patent attorney. With the attorney's help the Stranger sets up a corporation (World Enterprises) to develop a number of chemistry patents, the success of which transform the Stranger into one of wealthiest people on Earth almost over night. Very trippy imagery. Bowie's first movie appearance. Has been compared to Citizen Kane for the power of its inconclusive ending. http://www.fantascienza.com/cinema/u...a/media/03.jpg http://www.fantascienza.com/cinema/u...a/media/19.jpg http://www.fantascienza.com/cinema/u...a/media/05.jpg http://www.fantascienza.com/cinema/u...a/media/15.jpg http://www.fantascienza.com/cinema/u...a/media/12.jpg http://www.fantascienza.com/cinema/u...a/media/21.jpg j- |
