What do you wish affiliate programs offered?

Whats are some of the things that piss you off about affiliate programs, other than not having true 24-7 support.

And what do you wish affiliate programs offered to their webmasters?

thaifan99 04-30-2005 07:31 PM

Fully customisable galleries.......... some of their text/graphics is awful.

good thread. Be interesting to hear what are the extra things an affiliate program can offer.

interesting idea...alot of members areas do infact oversell inside, & that causes people to leave like a mofo

i've seen it happen 100x...

now on a per-signup, they may be trying to cover their costs, but with revshare they have less of an excuse...good call

I agree. On per signup, they can do what they want with the customer I sent them. I got paid for the signup, not the rebilling.

But on revshare, the idea is to make money off the customer recurring. And A LOT of revshare sponsors are upselling sites in their member areas that are better than the one the customer I just sent joined. So if he signs up to a site promoted in the members area, you bet he is going to cancel his membership. Poof, recurring gone.

I was in the members area of a very popular site today, the girl with the hoof foot or whatever it is called. It is a revshare program, and you would not BELIEVE the upsells in her members area. Complete bullshit. Traffic was stopped instantly after I saw that. I'll never promote that program again. :disgust

Upselling on revshare is nothing but a ripoff to the affiliate. And not too many affiliates are going to go to the effort to check out members areas, so it largely goes unnoticed.

pr0 04-30-2005 08:40 PM

Yup, pushing a hard upsell in the members area to another site like their own is pretty ridiculous, it just shows you they really don't have the revshare affiliate in mind.

Now upsells like live-cams, games, toys stuff like that don't take away from retention in my mind, if its just a regular porn site/dating site.

I would like affiliate programs to stop giving away so many free tools to their webmasters. I'm not even joking.

I couldn't agree more. I see this all the time and it's BULLSHIT. It's often under some silly last end link inside the members area like "extras" or something. If it's PPS do what you want.... if it's revshare don't fucking do that.

Yes I'v been talking to people who think some site are only there to upsell, a sale that pays the traffic generator nothing.

But if you send traffic to one of these sites who is to blame?

But on the other hand in an industry where people boast of a 3 month retention, what is wrong in getting the member to sign up to another site when he leaves?

I suppose it depends on the aim of the site owner. Is he trying to get a few bucks as the member leaves after a couple of months or is he just trying to get them in so he can upsell them straight out?

some of out best traffic is coming from two paysites we sell content to, but it seems the members coming over are looking for a new place to get porn, some are even commenting they have seen some of the sets before. :)

what would be good is payment for the upsells even if the percentage was the same (ie 60%)
