BLOG: "Set it and forget it" ?

I plan to start my own adult blog with WordPress. But I will not have time to update it every day. Is there a way to add posts in a querry and set to update blog with 1 post from a querry every day.

dont know, but it sure would be nice when im on a holiday.....

Antonio 04-30-2005 04:54 AM

Not sure if the blogging software can do that, but a programmer can fix something for you in less than an hour, all he has to do is write you a little program that copies text from a text fiel and posts it... After that you can run the program once a day using teh Windows scheduler.

I'm surprised there is not a script like that already publicly available. One that works with Wordpress. I'd buy it.

Shouldn't be too tough, running Crontab would work I am guessing..

cambaby 04-30-2005 02:09 PM

Most blogging software allows you to queue a post, set it for a future date. Im pretty sure Ive seen this in Wordpress or an addon for WP. No CRON needed it will post at the appropriate time based on hits to the blog(ie a view page based type cron hack)

I love it when people think that programming is done just like that, no planning, no debug...

Would this be easy feature to add, yes. Would it be accomplished in an hour...no

Had a blog but found i was too busy or too lazy to write in it

xaz 05-01-2005 11:42 AM

it would be nice to add to queue posts for say 3 months and forget about it for a while.

Cant you just sit down one day for an hour.
Write up about 100 entries in wordpress. Save as drafts
And log in once a day for 1 min and hit publish

humbug all, people have no clue. You can publish all posts with a specific date stamp, and they will appear when you wish. wordpress does that for you.

You don't have to log in to post 1 per day. Just post date the posts. I often write 7 posts on Sunday and date them for each day of the following week. On the right day WP posts them. You can also post to wordpress via email. :thumbsup

DateDoc 05-01-2005 12:20 PM

Oh, and you can also outsource the posting! :1orglaugh

In the "write post" advanced section below the text box there is an "edit time" section. Change the date. Scroll back up. Click publish and when that date and time come up WP will publish the article. :thumbsup

CC 05-01-2005 12:27 PM

Yes, it's really quite simple. Takes about 5 seconds per post.

you need to enable the advanced editor in the options menu. then the option is right below the text entry area. along with post author, trackbacks, and custom fields.

swedguy 05-01-2005 12:42 PM

I can que as many blog posts as I want. Great for when you feel creative and can write up a bunch of junk.

comeplay 05-01-2005 10:37 PM

Or you could pay me to post on your blog, will write convincingly about any topic and will write more then enough to make it worth your time. Offer available to all for a short period of time, email [email protected] with your pay offers for a daily blog posting.
