Do you value Branding?

Whats so fucking good about branding?

Ya think it helps business or not?

jonesy 04-29-2005 04:56 PM

if you have to ask that question youre a moron.

Keev 04-29-2005 04:56 PM

ask lightspeed

TheGoldenChild 04-29-2005 04:57 PM

A branding campaign should be designed to differentiate your cow from all the other cattle on the range. Even if all the cattle on the range look pretty much alike. Customers want brands that are narrow in scope and distinguishable by a single word, the shorter the better.

smack 04-29-2005 04:57 PM

branding is king in any industry.

sonofsam 04-29-2005 04:57 PM

well think about how much money it makes juicy... JUST from branding... and from the branding he easily can get business connections and things done for him... because everyone knows him and hes become a figure... i think it has worked wonders for him and the people that talk shit about it are jealous....

but i also think a lot of people are trying to BE him which would get kind of annoying..

branding is very important in my opinion, to differentiate yourself from others

baddog 04-29-2005 04:57 PM

I am sure this is a rhetorical question

Get It Plugged In, Get Turned on.

That's catchy.
Ya think consumers will like that?

TheGoldenChild 04-29-2005 04:59 PM

branding is a fascinating subject I can talk about all day
for instance- when is the last time you asked for a facial tissue?

Chances are you ask for Kleenex.
But here is the flipside

When I am taking a crap and look down and find no roll - I yell out for toilet paper and NOT Charmin...
Strange isn't it?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 04-29-2005 05:02 PM

To be honest I don't think branding does as much as people think.

However "Keenex" TM

Definatly is smthing to think about.
Perhaps it was a brain washing experiment:)

If your a genious on Branding what benefits does a company achieve from it?
Why would a company be interested in Branding?

For me it comes down to the product or service.
If its good it's good. No Branding is required.

Monique Niccole 04-29-2005 05:15 PM

The benefits that a company achieves from branding are being "top of mind" when you think of a category. If you think of Tide whenever you think of detergent then they have done their branding job. If you think of ipod when you think of mp3 players, then Apple has done their branding job. If you think of Lightspeed when you think of amateur girls, then they have done their branding job. Branding a product or service properly is all about making your product stick out from the pack and be the only option a consumer considers.

Branding is very important. Can you image McDonalds not advertising any more.
Or any big company.
Branding shows power, success and credibility.

Branding is everything.

Yahoo, google. What a stupid name, but they build the brand so it's like a house hold name now.

Like our CyberAge.com
Howard stern commercials, soon TV, conventions. Got to stay on top and keep the name strong.

YARGH??? Branding is a quick and easy way for people to recognize a product or service. Why/how would that be bad? When you hear the intel bum bum bum sound you automatically know what it is, or the NBC chimes. It's subtle, but very effective.

baddog 04-29-2005 05:21 PM

how many people ask for a coke, when they really just want a soda?

YARGH! Exactly. The product created the brand in their cases but if google had a different name like search power, or something gay, it could have turned out a lot different.

You are not a brand.
This is not your job.
This is not your television.

I have not yet been "Chio'd".

Yep, branding is key. It communicates a certain set of values that the reader/user/consumer can associate with your product. Hence, expectations are managed accordingly.

Gimmeh a Sprite?

So what your saying is the complete dominance of a term is the mark of succesful branding?

Is it Hysteria or just a flavor that people want?If people called Coke...

Ummm
Froak...

Then would it be the name or the product really?
Does This sorta dominance really mark success in the market place or is it the actual product. I love Coke Cola. Its great but it really could be called anything cuz the shit taste good and mixes great with any Whiskey or Bourbon.

Tango 04-29-2005 05:28 PM

if you don't brand your only as good as today's traffic - 100%
if you brand - you can have some hiccup's and still survive

slapass 04-29-2005 05:29 PM

this business is just like any business. How does amazon stay on top with higher prices than most online stores? Try and sell a $200 pair of sunglasses with your name on it and one with "Gucci" on it. Why do people sell MILF hunter everyday when every surfer who has been on the net for 2 weeks has seen the site? Tawnee Stone just broke 100k signups. Do you think people are comfortable with her, with her site? Know who she is? Branding creates comfort and that leads to spontaneous buys and repeat business.

I am more curious as to why more programs do not brand. I bet tons of people know what milf hunter or bang bus is and do not know the company. Disney put their name all over Bambi or Lion King. Why don't adult online companies do more of that? Lightspeed is the one exception.

and I never drink Coke, and certainly would never mix soda pop with any whiskey or bourbon. however, you will find entire portions of the country that will call soda coke, even if they mean sprite or pepsi

So all must be good correct? Because without branding, granted in it's simplest of forms, how do you know the difference..

How do you relate that to others? You do it via the name, domain, links to it, etc, which is all a form of branding a certain site... which I find somewhat important...:pimp

Mr.Fiction 04-29-2005 06:11 PM

Companies like Penthouse, Hustler, and Playboy all live by their brand name. Do you think they are making money just by selling magazines still? :1orglaugh

Would you go so far as to say...

Tawny Stone is a household name?
