It's official...I signed up for JUDO today.

Just came back from the place to pay my first month and buy my uniform. I start Monday. I can't wait to get in shape and learn how to kick ass more effectively.

And no, there is no BJJ place around here so Judy is the next best thing since all of that shit branched off of Judo in the first place.

Actually, you're wrong. Judo was developed in Japan in the late 19th century and using principles of balance and leverage adapted from jujitsu.

Get ready for a sore ass and stiff torso!! Those judo guys, the good ones, are fuckin TOUGH. A bunch of them are crossing over into MMA nowadays. Try to learn the technique without using the gi as well, you'll thank yourself in the future.

Congratulations, it's a good first step. I started Judo when I was 8, you'll enjoy it immensely. Randori is usually 3 minute rounds, and it will kick your ass. Learn 3 basic throws and work your attacks from there. My favorite three has always been Uchi Mata, Osoto-gari, and Ouchi-gari which any one throw can setup the others.

You should do well, by your pictures I've seen of you, you have a good solid base, which makes you harder to throw. But, be prepared to be thrown by everyone. Work your falls, most important.

Have fun.

TheSenator 04-29-2005 05:48 PM

Cool....BJJ and Judo are brothers. They just don't know it.

yeah thanks....The man said that I won't be learning any throws or anything until I learn how to fall correctly..So I already know that I'm gonna get beat up but that's what I need. Life isn't good unless you're constantly using your body to it's maximum potential..

I'm tired of sitting on my fat ass.

tony286 04-29-2005 05:51 PM

do it to get in shape and not worrying about kicking peoples asses your a adult .Which means you can be sued its not worth it especially if you have aquired things in your life.

Awesome. Judo is a great art. If you get the chance, watch some videos of Kyuzo Mifune Sensei...pure magic.

I am glad to hear you say that, cause believe it or not, 3 months ago I was in the same situation. After Vegas in January, I was so sick, I couldn't move for a week. I did what you are doing, take action.

Taking the first step is the hardest, proud of you, my nigga! :)

Anthony 04-29-2005 11:11 PM

BVF,

Here's a great online source for Judo. Great animations of throws, and a board filled with Black Belts who will answer your questions.

http://judoinfo.com/

One of my favorite articles there about Kimura.

http://judoinfo.com/kimura3.htm

Kimura is revered among BJJ fighters, even named the move he used on Helio Gracie after him.
