OT: New House Woes - Post Yours.
Got moved into the new house a couple of weeks ago. So far.....
Day 2 - Had to break window out of the office to get in because the locks on these doors not only require you to unlock them, but also twist them both ways before they will pull the lock pin. So 8:30a.m., taking the dogs out for the morning pee/poo, Arika is out getting her nails done (can't answer her phone), it's 45 degrees outside, had to break a window to get back in. Day 4 - Had to break the gas meter locking thing. On a Saturday, when the gas company is closed, I realize that on the Friday preceeding, they put a lock on our gas meter. Somehow the orders at the gas company got mixed up, and after they turned the gas on in our name on Thursday, they disconected the same gas service in the previous home owners name on Friday. So I came home from dropping Arika off at the airport to a cool 63 degrres, had to destroy the meter thingy to get the gas on for the weekend. Day - 17 Funky "vanilla cream" paint DOES NOT MATCH DAMNIT. Went to touch up the walls with the $16.00/quart special/custom paint, and it does not match, it's darker. Now I have dark splotches and points all over the hallway.....lol So, new house woes, list the fun times you had when buying your house and shit just didn't work out like you expected it to. |
Month 1: Interest rate went up.... mortgage payment increased enormously.
Month 2: Interest rate went up.... mortgage payment increased enormously. Month 3: Interest rate went up.... mortgage payment increased enormously. Month 4: Interest rate went up.... mortgage payment increased enormously. Month 5: Pending. |

but until then...... i'm fucked. I can't get a fixed right now better than my ARM even through fraud. |
Amp what was your starting rate and what is it at now?
Did you get interest only a negative ARM or something weird? |

Thats hurts man, I feel you on that. January is a long way off though :( Our deal got all fucked up at the last minute on the primary. They ran our credit 4 times as an APPLICATION, not just a query, in the month leading up to closing, so we jumped a point and found out a week before closing. Mind you the deal to buy was struck (with bank financing approval) 2 months before closing. So before we signed we made them eat the 1% bullshit if we refi in 1-3 years to get the original rate back. Otherewise thay wanted like a 3k payout on the primary loan....lol Sounds like for you though if you combined and qualified you will drop close to 30% of your current payment in January. |

now it's 4.5 interest only. |
ummm, no complaints with any of my purchases that I can think of . . . . but it has been 20 years since the last time I bought a house

The lucky part is Maui is going up so fast. Is it possible for you to get the placed appraised, re fi and pull some cash out to cover the unexpected monthly payment increase? |

That's what I was thinking too. But has he broke a window or some shit to get back in??? Come on folks, horror stories is what I'm after......lol |
I closed the door and the house fell down around me :error

2 weeks ago I had hardwood floors installed in a condo I own (rental), and the condo by-laws are very specific about being able to have contractors work 9 to 5 as long as you aren't using certain specific loud or banging equipment. Even though the contractor wasn't using any of the restricted machinery, the downstairs neighbour complains to the concierge who orders my worker to only work between 10 to 2 and I don't find out about this until the next week and the contractor charges me for 2 extra days because his time was limited. Ugh.

Ouch I agree big nut to come up with each month. My only 2 cents would be to work the 20% (guestimate) increase in property value there against the 4.5% you are paying on your loan. and my 3rd cent would be to suggest you live in one of the places all of use dream of or vacation in when we can afford it |
My first house I bought was closing the next day, and the appraiser we got came in way low and WAAAAAAAY late (we gave him 2 weeks to do the appraisal). It wasn't our fault as our broker had recommended this guy and said he would appraise the property for the property's true worth... Anyways the appraiser came in way low and we had no time to get a second appraisal... I had to shell out another $13,000 on top of the 15% downpayment I had put down...
I was fucking PISSED!! I didn't even pay the appraiser, I told him to go shove his opinion up his ass as it made me have to come up with a bunch of cash last minute... Ahhh the joys of home ownership ;) DH |

Hehe, our appraiser was a buddy of the realtor, so of course his shit came in at just the right amount to get us an approval... :1orglaugh |
New house woes? The asshole who lives next door. Other wise all is well... :upsidedow

Spill it, what's he do to piss you off? |
The day we moved into our new home John was testing the jacuzzi tub in his son's bedroom and forgot to turn off the water.
Then a year later the pool man who'd been trying to fix a leak for over a year was filling the indoor pool and left the place with the water pumping from the outdoor pool. The carpet in that end of the house has been lifted up more often than my skirt. The people you call when your house floods know us by our first names now. |
