WEBMASTERS THIS MAY BE COSTING YOU THOUSANDS!!! (PICS)"

If there was software that spidered password trading sites, then cross referenced the collected data with webmaster & program sites in a database. It would then alert the webmaster.

Would you buy this script, server side application or service subscription? If there is enough demand for a product like this, a friend of mine will develop it.

Would you be interested in this product? Have any related ideas or comments? Please post here! :thumbsup

yes... the owner of this program would have it send you an automatic email letting you know of the occurence then mention how you can help him out by sending him some traffic or something... it was a clever idea...

Not sure about that, the one I am refering to is a plug-in for a security script. It spiders the P/T sites and alerts the site/program owner by e-mail for the site listing any of the user/pass info.

post a link to the one that already exists

chowda 04-28-2005 10:50 PM

lame, they will find new ways around this.

It's an add-on to StrongBox, I'll look for the link.

http://www.bettercgi.com/strongbox/features.html#spider

Optional Proactive Password Spider

Each day, our bettercgi.com spider analyzes all known password sites, retrieving tens of thousands of compromised passwords. As a subscriber to our proactive spider service, your system will be notified immediately when one of your passwords is posted on a password site. Strongbox will then disable that password even before anyone is able to use it to access your site. Just as when anything else of note occurs, our system will also email you to let you know which username was found posted on which password sites. This optional service is only $5 per month.

Sure they will, someday. Haven't yet, though. We've been spidering them
for some time and apprently they've yet to notice. When they do something
about it, we'll jump ahead of them again like we always do. I like to stay
about 3-5 years ahead of them.

Thanks for posting that link, newbreed.
Here's probably a better link:

Thanks, I didn't think much about it really. I was not aware that existed though.

Buddy asked me to check on here for him [I seem to get that quite often].. .

Appreciate the info guys. :upsidedow :thumbsup

I haven't had to use this yet because I've found Strongbox alone to be so great right out of the box, but I'm opening some new sites, and think I'll be getting this service too. Hey Ray, expect an ICQ in the next week or so! :)

That would work if AOL, Netscape, and a few other internet providers did not pool ip's for users that change all the damn fucking time.

Matt_WildCash 04-29-2005 01:33 AM

Nope Pennywise and our 24/7 support staff already handle that no problem. Passwords were a problem 5 years ago not anymore

no need for this service any decent script will lock down a password that has been used too many times form diffrent ip's why would any paysite owner spend $$$ on a script that might save him $100 a month on bandwith? Pointless if you ask me.
