I have a gambling problem :(

I can't seem to stop myself. I've lost a good chunk of change lately. The problem is that I can double up in no time, but I get cocky and lose it all in a few hands. That always leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I feel if I play again I can win it back. Same cycle over and over.

Ugh. I have spent way too much already. I am thinking of getting a piece of paper framed "Every time you gamble... your dreams slip further away"

That's ridicilous:
http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/20questions.html

"Most compulsive gamblers will answer yes to at least seven of these questions."

My turn:
1) Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy? - Yes. Everytime I lose money

2) Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? - You bet... guess when

3) After losing did you feel you must return as soon as possible and win back your losses? - What kind of question is that, of course.

4) After a win did you have a strong urge to return and win more? - Um... yeah for sure... Thats what the game is all about isn't it??

5) Did you often gamble until your last dollar was gone? - yes... wouldn't be fun if you went home with money after losing all day.

6) Did you ever gamble longer than you had planned? - yes... everytime I win :)

damn... that was close :winkwink:

Wanna play some poker ?

chodadog 04-28-2005 09:23 AM

It always amazes me to see how some people gamble. I mean, when i go to the casino, i go with the intention of either making some money, or losing whatever i've had. You see so many people that decide to go to the casino "for a couple of hours"

I don't get that. If i double up in 5 or 10 minutes, i'm fucking out of there. Whereas you see some other people who just seem determined to stay there for the evening or whatever, and of course, they end up losing whatever they've won and them some.

Why do some people become alcoholics? or drug addicts?
Gambling is an addiction like any other some people get addicted some doesn't.

chodadog 04-28-2005 09:55 AM

Yeah i know, but what i mean is.. I don't understand the decision before they even get to the casion to "go for a couple of hours." I mean, i can see how people could get caught up when they're winning and stay there even though they know they should be getting out of there. It's happened to me, too. But just deciding before you even get there that you're going to stay for a couple of hours... those people will stay for those two hours regardless of what happens.

StuartD 04-28-2005 09:57 AM

I bet you can stop gambling... wanna bet on it? :winkwink:
