I'm thinking of paying off all their debt --- under $100k

depends on how they are for traveling - but I'd recommend a first class trip someplace - europe or australia or something that is if they like to travel

ONe of the coolest gifts for such an occasion that I've ever seen is a scrapbook full of photos and so forth that they've either never seen or rarely seen, (I.E. a relative has these mementos and would share for this project) and their wedding photos taken to a professional for re-coloring and mounting. :)

paying off all their debt would be a wonderful idea... that will be a huge load off of their back....

also a small thing like a 2 person cruise package would be great... maybe send them on a 1 week cruise...

its hard to give ideas when i don't really know what they are into... for example if they liked to travel etc i would suggest a paid vacation and safari for them... what are their hobbies?

addition to this suggestion.. maybe getting a video editor to make a compilation of lots of their photos and home videos and making a couple dvds

Good thought with the debt. I would pay off the debt and also give them a gift. Thats what I plan to do soon.

50th is the golden anniversary if you're looking to add anything to paying off debts, which in itself is an awesome gift. :thumbsup

reynold 04-28-2005 01:04 AM

yeah, paying off their debt is good as long as it came from the heart! ;-)

a huge scrapbook of pictures from their life, family photos, things like that. maybe a little vacation, depending on how much you're looking to spend.

pay of their debt + a holiday to relax

That would be amazing for them...after all they are your parents.

xclusive 04-28-2005 01:42 AM

Just make sure that you tell them you love them and anything they will recieve will just be a bonus

That's along the same lines I was pondering. Here's one more in tune for the literally historic moment.

Find a travel agent that can arrange a timely visit to all 50 of these United States. I would imagine that the cost is not a factor so this is definately feasible. If they are baseball fans, get them tickets to every Major League Baseball park. Other hobbies can obviously be factored in here.

Give them a 50-leg extended vacation for their 50th anniversary. It doesn't happen that often to anybody these days. Peace Out and cheers!

Afterthought...Make California the 50th and final stop....the Golden State

perfect idea... when i make decent money, my number one priority was to buy my parents their dream house, and my dad his new rig (he was a trucker before he died) as growing up, they did so much shit for me, so its the least i can do
