Strange Computer Problem - any ideas appreciated
So I left my other computer on all night, and when I came home this morning it appeared to be stuck in sleep mode.
Then I tried restarting and the power button is not responding, even when held down for over a minute. So I unplug and plug it back in, and the power instantly comes on (which it shouldn't) but nothing else seems to happen. Data light stays on for 10 seconds then goes off but power is stuck on, fans are whirring, etc, but nothing else working as far as I can tell. I opened it up already and checked all motherboard connections ... everything looks fine. Any ideas of what it could be ????? Thanks, -Phil |
It went into a coma. I am sorry for your lose, pull the plug now before the republicans find out.

You're motherboard is fried. Another GFY'er brought me a computer that was doing the same thing and had to tell him the sad news. The beast is dead.

Most likely the power supply is shot. but do as DX said if you dont have a spare ps laying around. You have to start eliminating causes, but ps probably dont have enuff juice to power up system but just the fans that don't take much. If its not that, then its several possibilities, one of your cards overheated, or is unseated, or possibly cpu fry, which is very unlikely in this case if it wasnt doing nothing overnite. I put my cookies on bad ps
