    A Sad Day

Two toddlers got swept away in my creek yesterday. Police a fire fighters searched all night and found the bodies down stream. There is a park on the other side of my creek (park is owned by the city). Apparently the mom was talking on her cell phone and didn't notice her kids (ages 4 and 6) walk away from her. Well, since it rained, the creek water was high and there was no chance for them to survive.

This sucks. I can't look at my creek the same.

Normally the creek is very shallow, but when it rains, it can be very wild for a few days. Not even an adult could survive if it caught them.

Back in the times when people didn't live in this kind of world, the kids would know better just from experience and parental guidance about the natural world...

Whatever. Back in the old times this happened all the time, but it wasnt a national news story every time some kid dies.
