They all seem to think it's an incredibly easy business to get into.

They all seem to think all porn stars make serious bank.

They all seem to think if you own a porn site, you're rich.

They all seem to think all porn stars have aids.

I could go on...

They also tend to think that anyone in the business is promiscuous.

I agree, to an extent. I mean, I know that I don't know much about most industrys mainly cause I do not work in them. I know I don't know much, if anything, about the music industry, or entertainment industry, etc.

But, the majority of people i run into, seem to think they know all about the adult industry.

they all seem to think, that because i work from home i don't really work. that irritates me the most. in reality, i usually put in days twice as long as theirs, and work 6 days a week.

In actuality, I have to actually WORK, put in time for grunt work, etc. to make money, while they just go sit at a desk and get a check every 2 weeks for the same amount every pay period.

Yeah I have a friend that knows what I do and he occasionly let's out the "I have a REAL job" quip. Then the next time the fucker want you to show him to how to make money. Same fucker( the guy with the REAL job ) also occasionly borrows money form me ( the guy without a REAL job ) because his "real" job isn't enough to pay the bills.

That bothers me the most. Well, it actually doesn't bother me.

eh fuck em. the more misconceptions the less ppl try and get into an already oversaturated market. i remember back in 99 i guess it was some friends told some chicks what i do, which i didn't appreciate them doing but for some reason the girls assumed the sites consisted of me naked. lol.

then there are the typical ones, after the small town got wind of what i was doing even the gas station attendants were making comments, how i should be driving a better car with the money i must be makking ect

but yes, i agree the most annoying of all are ppl who just stop by whenever they feel like and try to get you to do stuff thinking you can just work any time. "oh come on man, all you ever do is work, lets party". yeah, sure. but not right now. thats why i can pay my bills while he can't.

I know I sell porn but are we in the porn industry? IS the guy with a magazine stand on Time square in the porn industry? I now know a few photographers and I had dinner with a girl who has a solo site. Other then that I could have a power tool site for as much interaction I get with the porn industry.

Yup... that's a big problem where I live. Every time someone gets busted for KP, the newspapers talk about how they were busted for "porn"... it's kind of freaky.
