Oh boy! I've been there! They were screwing with me over a $3 service fee so I closed all 5 of my accounts there and closed my VISA account then I walked across the street and got free accounts at the bank I'm with now. I haven't had a problem for years with them. :)

Having an couple of accounts at Bank Of America myself, I'd like to know what happened.

My hubby hates them too. When he pays the mortgage payment... in his check register he lists them as Bank Of Shit.

Once he messed up his account, so he went to "his" bank, Wells Fargo. The girl that helped him find his mistake almost wet her pants when she saw Bank of Shit in his register...

Personally, I have several accounts there...what did they do to you???

they charge me between 4-7 bucks to take money out of a non-Bank of shit ATM so to take $20 out I get whacked 1.75 at the atm and then another 4-7 bucks from bank of shit so $20 bucks ends up costing almost $30

they stole $140 from us one time, admitted to it, then had the nerve to say there was absolutely nothing we could do about it...they fucking admitted they stole and then woulodn't give the money back because they could not credit our account cause we closed it....so we didn't get shit back

i did a shitload of research on them too, at any given time they have like 100 lawsuits against them for similar problems like I had

Just don't switch to WAMU (Washington Mutual). They suck too. Make a deposit over $25,000 and they hold your money for 10 days before you can use it. Oh wait, my bad they let me use $100 immediately. :1orglaugh Needless to say the check I deposited cleared within 3 days yet for the remaining 7 business days they made money off my money that I was not allowed access too. Now, if it was some shit company check I can undersatnd but it was form a Fortune 500 company that has plenty of money. So WAMU can :321GFY

I dont' have an acct with BofA, but had a payroll check of considerable amount to cash and then deposit in my reg bank.

I went to 2 BofA's, both of them told me they didn't have enough money to cash my check. I was like "WHAT THE FUCK"? Who has heard of a bank without money?

I tried to get a cashier check, then they told me they don't do that for non BofA customers. Fucking bullshit. I went in looking scruffy, had a 5 figure check and to me, they just told me to fuck off. I guess wearing a Rolex meant nothing. I paid more in taxes in that one check then they made in a month.

Fuck BofA.

BOA closed a bunch of international accounts recently without warning. Nice stuff huh?

Unfortunately, that's any bank. It's because it was a large amount ... I got my student loan check and it was for such a large amount BofA held it for 10 days. I did my research and most banks do hold it for 10 days when it is that large of an amount.

However ... BofA holds most checks for a couple of days if you deposit them inside the branch or whatever ... but if you deposit them in an ATM, you have access to your funds the next day.

They can't legally hold your money for that long I believe. I can see them holding it until the check has cleared which these days is a matter of days but 10. Also, if I make an ATM deposit at WAMU they hold it until it is verified. Sure it says on my receipt available but if you were to try and take it out it says funds are not available.

Now, I take large checks to the issuing bank and get cash or a cashiers check. If they say they do not have enough $$, which is BS, I tell them that is fine I'll wait while they have it sent over. They are a bank that deals in $$ they have to honor the check if the person that wrote the check to me has enough money in their account to cover the check.

That is who my parents use and where I think I am going to take my business. :thumbsup

I've been with Bank of America for a couple years and i'm pretty happy. I was with Wells Fargo previous to that and I wasn't thrilled with the customer service.

I've found that any bank will give you problems if you don't watch yourself. I introduced myself to the manager of the Bofa that I go to and every now and then i'll go drop him off some gift certificates to a restaurant or something, but if I ever get overdraft charges they're reversed no matter how many, dude takes care of me personally if there's a long line, and everything's been all good since i've been there.

bofa works great for me...no complaints.

we are with BofA and so far so good...(It helps to have normal business names printed on your checks and not porn names :) )

I use Citizens bank. Open 7 days a week. No problems.

actually i think i have bad experiences in all banks..so might as well go with free checking with wamu
