Phil Jackson Coming Back To Coach The Lakers?!?!?!?!

That would be awesome, but you have to wonder why the fuck would he want to deal with that dick Kobe??? He could coach anywhere he likes, but supposedly he and Kobe are scheduled to meet up in LA this week, to discuss several things...... Aside from his relationship with Jeanie Buss (the Lakers owners daughter) and $10 Mill a year, I cant understand why he would want to come back...... wait those are actually some pretty good reasons to come back....... Anyhow we'll see what develops in the coming weeks of this offseason. Its gonna be a crazy summer for the Lakers, to say the least.....

axelcat 04-26-2005 10:43 AM

jackson will be here next season

Sosa 04-26-2005 10:44 AM

heh all the lakers fans calling kobe a little bit now?

Jackson has to come back to save face. If The Heat wins they'll credit it to Shaq which means they'll credit all the previous Laker victories to Shaq.

If Jackson had coached another team to victory and The Heat and The Lakers hadn't gotten even into the play offs and Jackson's new team did, they'd credit Jackson for all the victories.

It's looking like Shaq is the reason for the Laker's successes.

I couldn't agree more, Jackson has had Jordan Pippen and Shaq, if he can win his record setting 10th championship, he will 100% go down in history as the best coach in the history of ALL sports :2 cents:

I would say 75% chance. I bet you Jeanne Buss as alot to do with this too.

sickkittens 04-26-2005 11:43 AM

He's going all over. He just had an interview w/ NY. I don't see that happening, though.

MickeyG 04-26-2005 11:45 AM

This weekend at the playoff game everyone was wearing shirts that said "Thank you Kobe" love Miami :)

sickkittens 04-26-2005 11:46 AM

Does anyone like Kobe anymore? I was reading somewhere that his jersey sales had the biggest drop out of any player this year.

The NBA is out of control. They're saying Phil might be getting $10 Mil a year to coach.

That's obscene. That's beyond obscene. $10 Mil to coach a game where the strategy is to put a ball through a hoop.

Come on people seriously . . . . think about it.

It does seem to be a high amount BUT Phil Jackson ain't your average run-of-the-mill coaches! He's got more championship titles under his belt than Superman. Yet the Lakers may be his Waterloo.

As I mentioned earlier, the Lakers are crashing and burning but the Heat is in their rolling. Shaq is there. His presence alone boosts the morale of the team. The Heat are in the playoffs..nuff said there! Shaq's merchandise, jersey and commercial presence is increasing.

For Jackson to command so high a price it's due to his history, yet that's all up for grabs if the Heat get down to the wire for the championships.

Jackson is worth it. He's proven himself technically but he's got to go out there and either revive a dying team or resurrect a franchise. NY Knicks would be a Cinderella story. It would invigorate the city and franchise and even if all they did was reach the playoffs with Jackson at the helm it would prove once and for all that Jackson is indeed the 'man' when it comes to coaching.

If Jackson went to NY and in 3 years just got them to the playoffs or even win an NBA championship, Jackson could run for fucking president of the U.S. and win hands fucking down.

n202k5 04-26-2005 12:52 PM

Fuck You David Stern.

n202k5 04-26-2005 12:54 PM

Even with Shaq in Miami, they wont get past Detroit. Larry Brown stopped shaq once, he will do it again. Larry Brown is the ulitimate coach, behind Phil Jackson.

I hope he is just out there to tell Kobe, "You fucked up!" then leaves. He'd have more fun coaching Cleveland. Granted it is no LA but he'll do better there.

Yeah Kobe fucked up and fucked up in a wrong way if he did indeed rat out his teammates when the cops put the heat on. What his teammates do is none of the cops business. He fucked up with his wife trusting him and he supposedly fucked up with his teammates trusting him. That's a recipe of disaster.

Jackson goes back to LA and he'd have to handle the Kobe situation. Kobe is young, he's big as a mountain but he's young. He's good to fuck up repeatedly for years and that's just human nature.

Bottom line is this is a scenario of credit, blame, etc.

Who's the man?

D-Money 04-26-2005 02:24 PM

D$'s take (just felt like talking in 3rd person):

Phil Jackson might not be worth $10,000,000 a year, I don''t think any coach is really worth that much. However, for what he's done for the franchise and knowing that his presence will attract other star players to play for the Lakers it's a good deal. He's not worth it, but give it to him anyway.

Bottom line, if the Lakers aren't winning with Phil as coach, people won't go to pay and see the Lakers play. Where as if they paid a star player that much, that player has the potential to fill the stands depending on who it is, which equates into more money to justify the cost. With a player, they also can sell their jersey and justify a players worth, where as with Phil, there's no jersey sales. So that's why I'm saying it's a high figure to pay for any coach.

If any coach deserves that much, it would be Phil.

It's just a crazy amount of money.

n202k5 04-26-2005 02:28 PM

Kobe will get another ring with Phil Jackson under the helm, its just a matter of time.

I completely agree, he is one of the most stubborn pricks I've ever seen, but he is still young and extremely talented and he can still be molded.......

I think it would be more interesting if he went to the Cavs. They are in the same boat as the Lakers but no bullshit from Kobe. They have LeBron(no i dont like him) who is most likely more hungry for a title than Kobe is now....just like Jordan was when Phil went to them. And of course the Knicks, wasnt Phil on the last team that won a title for them? Would be a great way to go out.

sweetME 04-26-2005 03:37 PM

Phil needs to coach Shaq's team so Kobe feels more stupid then now. I hate that consided idiot who ruined the Lakers

D-Money 04-26-2005 03:59 PM

Oh man, if the Cavs got Phil!

I'd love that.

LeBron needs him so he could really have the "Jordon-Like" potential.

I want Ben Wallace to be traded to the Cavs after they get Phil as coach.

Look out!
