Math people here please.

Hey,

Anyone know how to find the x and y of the formula.

1.5X = 3.5Y

Thnx!

squeezeboobs 04-26-2005 04:32 AM

that's in it's most simplest form.

Assuming you don't mean 1.5x as 1.5 times x.

bringer 04-26-2005 04:33 AM

x=1.5
y=3.5

Yep I mean, 1.5 times x and 3.5 times y. I want to know the x and y when 1.5x = 3.5y. But ofcourse these are just example numbers, so please post how you do it hehe.

chodadog 04-26-2005 04:51 AM

Actually, 3x = 7y is simpler than the original equation. You can take it further. These are the simplest ways the equation can be arranged.

x = 7y/3

y = 3x/7

You need as many equations as variables to "solve".

i turn on rock and roll instead od doing math.

chuck berry riffs are math.

Do your own homework. :winkwink:

Hmm maybe it isn't possible. Oops. I think I forgot the maximum.

This is the rite answer

x=3.5/1.5y
or simplified x=2.333333333y

y=1.5/3.5x
or simplified y=0.4285714286x

pood 04-26-2005 09:48 AM

how old are you?

lol, wtf

No.

1.5x = 3.5y

You have to divide with the same number on both sides.

1.5x/1.5 = 3.5y/1.5

1x=2.333333333y

1x=2.3y

Hahahahah what the hell do you think i just did?
It's the same answer Einstien

x=3.5/1.5y
or simplified x=2.333333333y

y=1.5/3.5x
or simplified y=0.4285714286x

Where did you find this problem? Last time I saw something like that was in 5th grade probably... :1orglaugh

Alex 04-26-2005 10:46 AM

1.5X = 3.5Y
For X:
Divide by 1.5 each side
X=3.5(Y)/1.5
X=2.33....

For Y:
Divide by 3.5 each side
Y=1.5(X)/3.5
Y=0.42857....

Thats one way.

Or i can say:

X=14
And
Y=6

To prove it
1.5x = 3.5y
1.5(14) = 3.5(6)
21 = 21

Or
X=28
Y=12

1.5(X) = 3.5(Y)
42 = 42

I can go on and on and on

Phoenix 04-26-2005 10:48 AM

these answers all too simple

dont forget that equation holds true for all of the real numbers that satisfy the relationship between x and y

Then again we learned this in 6th grade pre-algebra.
Why bring it up again.

Rebecca Love 04-26-2005 11:46 AM

FuqALot 04-26-2005 12:33 PM

This has nothing to do with being in 6th grade. Do you guys think you only use that when you are in 6th grade? Ofcourse not. I use it in this business too. You gallery submitterd probably don't. I appreciate the useful posts though.

STFU.

Cut it out with the bullshit that you are using an alegbra equation with two variables right now today and ha....

I havent lost you yet have I?
