People with blogs

Why do you care so much about domain names (eg. milfblog.com)? Blogs are all about the individuality and material on the site... So who really cares what the domain name is...

Rorschach 04-26-2005 02:04 AM

what a bunch of fucking homos

baddog 04-26-2005 02:04 AM

two words - search engines

Dirty F 04-26-2005 02:05 AM

Only reason i can think of is for people who remember the name and want to visit it again and didnt bookmark it.

Thats the reason for the blogs i just bought.
They all start with my.
My...blog.com

So its a network, easy to remember. Easy to check another niche blog.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 04-26-2005 02:10 AM

personally, i have ran a type of "blog" for a while, and its kinda getting old, the blogs will die out just like linkdumps did... then all these people will be stuck with 100+ my...blog.com domains, and trying to dump them off...

Dirty F 04-26-2005 02:11 AM

Personally i dont understand why people visit blogs in the first place.
If youre looking for free stuff why not just visit a tgp?

I think they can add like a personal touch if you write something on why you added those galleries and blah blah... Plus you can create an online personality which could turn to cult status... eg. maddox...

FACT: It's possible to have a blog without the word 'blog' in the domain

BRISK 04-26-2005 02:35 AM

Imagine if every website had the word 'website' in the domain?

carwebsite.com
bookwebsite.com
sexwebsite.com

I don't know why people are so obsessed with having the word 'blog' in the domain of their blog, especially when you consider that the most popular blogs today don't have the word 'blog' in their domain.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 04-26-2005 02:47 AM

i agree...

also what sets a blog apart from a tgp, is a tgp gives you everything right there, for the day... a blog, can be updated 1 time, to even 50 times a day, you can get some good return visitors because of updating maybe 1 time every 3 hours or something, because they will come back, to see whats new and tell their friends, i personally would rather tell my friends about a blog i saw that had some hot girls on it, then a tgp plastered with dicks

thats what i'm getting at...

Violetta 04-26-2005 04:22 AM

Stupid. There are like 5000 domains with tgp in it.
the ...blog.com domains can be short and easy to remember.

Nicky 04-26-2005 04:28 AM

if u have 2 word domains with blog in them I cant see it being negative, I dont think my blog is a bad name: nudecelebrityblog.com

wjxxx 04-26-2005 06:13 AM

You need to have a catchy name

Manowar 04-26-2005 07:33 AM

www.businessvoyeur.com

:)

sickkittens 04-26-2005 08:26 AM

Umm, because people are more likely to remember hotblog.com vs. hotblog.blogspot.com.

Mike Dutch 04-26-2005 08:32 AM

We run some "blogs" : http://blog.askjolene.com/mostpopular.php , most of them get SE traffic and surfers are happy to run their own little porn site. PPC buyers get free clicks because surfers add their galleries to the blogs.

We would like to expand the features on th eblogs in the future.

yes but why do people deal with absolutely generic domains like sexblog? or hornyblog?

plus if the surfer likes what they see they would want to bookmark it. no use having a domain like milfblog.com and has shit arse material on the site.

So i take it you made no money or got traffic to it so you dumped it.

I agree to some extent. Some of the blogs I like the most have the weirdest and most inconvenient URLs. But I guess if you want to host a bunch of different blogs on the same topic (milfs) - your can run the service on a domain like milfblog.com. There's also a SEO value to it.

Odie 04-26-2005 11:18 AM

I got a blog andit's just personal. NOT adult at all but the name suggests that it is;)

www.stileproject.com --- is basically Stile's weblog. A big one, yes, but a blog nonetheless. One of the oldest that I know of on the web as well.

Maybe some of you 'bloggers' should take a cue or two from sites like that when picking new domains.

nah, i got sickof it, about a month, i got it from 0 hits a day, to 20,000 off link trades, started to get annoyed, made around $100 a day off it, not as much as you tgpers do, but it was concidered good, then i sold it for $2,000, made 99.99% profit, i was happy, especially when i only spent $10 on the domain ;)

As blogs and the term "blog" becomes more popular it will provide more opportunities for type-ins. At least that was my idea when I bought 5 or so blog domains, lol.

Blogs are more likely to get SE traffic than most TGPs.
Having "blog" in the domain is just cashing in on the buzz.
People visit blogs because they followed a link like "free sex photo" - not likely because they were looking for a blog.

From a surfer POV, good adult blogs are less SELL SELL SELL than TGPs, etc. They can sometimes by funny, amusing, interesting.
The journal-type layout gives the appearance it's actually updated and worth visiting again (assuming it's good)
