Hitboted?

I have seen this word a coplue of times, but dont really understand what it means. So what is it and in which way is it bad?

Hey Fever, when someone "Hitbots" you, it means that they're using a program to send your site false hits, which fool a lot of scripts into sending them back lots of your traffic. The programs are pretty smart because in most cases, they can make your script think that it's actually clicking on your links. It's a REAL pain in the ass.
