Anzac day today

we just observed our minutes silence here in Brisbane at 5am

Our country is built on guts and determination and I am so DAMN PROUD to be an Australian on this very important national day

We will remember them

Can anyone inform me why Anzac day is such a huge rememberance/celebration type event compared to other more significant battles that we actually won? I think I know why, but am not certain (considering noone really discusses why it is important).
