5-Year-Old Arrested For Candy Outburst At School

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Florida school officials are
apologizing for the arrest of a 5-year-old, whose tantrum
landed her in the back of a police cruiser.

Officials said the girl threw books and boxes, kicked a
teacher in the shins, smashed a candy dish, hit an
assistant principal in the stomach and drew on the walls.
She was upset when a teacher took away jelly beans she was
counting in a math exercise at Fairmount Park Elementary
School.

Minutes later, she was under arrest for battery. The
40-pound girl's hands were bound with plasic ties and her
ankles in handcuffs

little girl. I must of missed the part where she had a gun.
This doesn't prevent anything, but just shows what this world is
coming to that teachers can not now restrain/discipline children
anymore. Even that aside doesn't say a lot for the teachers or
the principle to know that a 5 year old or a group of
kindergartners could take over a school. I can see the headlines
now, teachers cower in horror as a group of five year olds take
over school with child safe scisors. Principal runs in fear for
help dialing 911.

People really crack me up these days, and it keeps getting worse
every year.

i saw the video.. 3 cops grab the little girl by her arms and put it up against her back and push her against a table while shes like hysterically crying.... the girl had calmed down before the police showed up as well and was sitting in a chair....

Frankly, the little shit was in need of some good discipline.. You can pretty much be sure she won't be pulling that sort of crap again for awhile. But in typical fashion, her useless parents will sue the police department...

So you agree that you or sorry rather an adult can't control a 5 year old? that we now days have to have cops do that for us? I have a five year old and let me tell you he's big for his age, however could never be a match for any adult. You do understand my cat almost weighs as much as this kid, right. My cat, can't run a school nor can a 40 lb out of control little girl in need of attention.

No she shouldn't act that way and should never of been in school if she acts like that all the time or if she thinks that is acceptable, but 5 year olds are 5 year old.

i think they treated her fairly. anyone abusive to others should be handcuffed and arrested.

I think applying the "Paddle of Knowledge" to the "Seat of Learning" may be in order for this little girl. The principal, teachers, and parents should receive remedial training in effective child disciplinary proceedures. Obviously, they don't get it either.

We have to have the cops handle it because if anyone in the school had laid a hand on her they would have been sued, fired and then sued again, and then they would counter sue for wrongfull dismisal etc. etc etc.

i just don't see how someone can't handle a 5 year old, maybe it's because i'm a parent. Especially is that person is a teacher, who is supposed to be able to handle a student (i know at a certian age that might not be as true, but 5 come on) and if not the teacher there should be others at the school that can, if not, well we should really think hard about rehiring people that can do the work, LOL.
