15 years as a smoker, 2 days as a non smoker.

This shit is tough. I'm in a pretty foul mood, even with the patch. Holding strong though, I refuse to be a smoker anymore.

Yeah I have some sugar free diabetic suckers that work pretty good. Luckily it's sunny so I've been riding my motorcycle and avoiding the car. I always smoked in my car, and it's the biggest trigger for me by far.

I did quit smoking once for several years. It only took a few and I was right back in.

Since that time I've failed a few times to quit smoking. This time, it's not "try", it's "do".

The Patch seems to be helpful. It staves off the nicotine withdrawl so you can deal with changing your patterns and lifestyle. So far it's been easier this time around although I want it a lot more too. :2 cents:

Congrad's WarChild... It's extremely difficult.. try not to let it beat you this time.
It's you or the cigarettes.. who is going to win?

Exactly. The defining moment for me was what I finally said to myself "The only reason I smoke is because I CAN'T quit.".

Keep going, I am on week 5!!! Doing the patch but I am following the program for 8 weeks. I have no cravings but don't want to tempt it. The first two weeks suck but after that, it is all good from there. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the well wishes, and good luck to you too. Did you get sick at all? Last time I quit, I got a very bad chest cold in a few days.

Ycaza 04-23-2005 09:16 PM

Dude, you can do it, i was 3 packs a day for a really long time and i did it last year, though a few people did die, but who cares about them, i didn't die of emphysema

Hang in there kid..the first 3 days are the roughest!!

And SHOULD you have problems getting through it with the patch..get the INHALER! That's what helped me to stop over 5 years ago.

Way to go!! :thumbsup

Hey - make your mind up that thi sis going to happen once and for all and it will be a done deal - I quit one day and never wanted one since - the first three days were the hardest - from that point the nicotine loses it's grip on you its all in your head - best thing I ever did - you wont regret quitting - you dont need that shit - do it or do not!!!
