It's rare that Rick outpays me on the same domain. I give him lots of credit, but he's rarely one of the top buyers price-wise. He's very conservative on the buy side.

I think it bugs me that both .in and .co.in are available and that i dont know which one is gonna be important. I see both extensions being sold already.

As long as we may have KRL's attention , I have a mainstream site name up for sale. I don't want to publish the name here, but can tell you the name is of significance. OK, that's my opinion. Everybody things they have the million dollar winner, I know.

Dombuyer, what's the most you've ever bought or sold a non dot com domain for?

Here's the deal with DJ.

Yep we had a damn sweet deal on it. $250,000 with Comedy Central TV Network which is owned by Viacom and they also own Jokes.com.

They wanted to do extremely edgy stuff on DirtyJokes.com and the deal was working its way up the corporate approval ladder nicely.

However apparently Viacom's head corporate acquisitions office has to OK deals on that price level and it wasn't the money that nixed it from what I heard but what Comedy Central had plans for on it that made Viacom's head acquisition and programming honcho's go no way.

So that deal fell through unfortunately and that would have been a huge score had it gone through.

We had it has just a jokes site the first year and got 4,000 jokes and 16,000 subscribers. It gets about 600 to 1200 uniques per day consistently. Great page views. (by the way we just moved it to a new server and haven't moved over and reconfigured the jokes database yet.) and are now going more adult with it.

We've been making money with it as a sales tool for when we sell ads on Men we often give comp ads on DJ. But like I said we're adding more adult content on now to see what that will generate also.

I don't think we'll sell it for under $100K. We've had 3 offers in the $25K range, and one at $75K.

PS DB I tested it myself recently on PPC and it does way more money as is under the traditional banner model.

I have a similar name, funnyshit.com, which does so-so on ppc, so at least I know the terrain I'd be expecting.

It has gotten that much traffic before, but I prefer quoting lower figures for the type-ins.

The only person who has ever been authorized as a broker on it before was Monte at Moniker who handles Ricks big domains and mine.

also a question if you don't mind... you have any tips for selling domains ? like if you are holding on to a domain.. is it suggested that you just list them on all the domain selling market places? or actively persue companies you think would be interested in the name? and if so which department do you usually contact?

I did buy them together.

Rick has always had a standing offer on the table to buy them back for what I paid if I ever want to sell them. Its very hard to part with domains like that obviously. I've had the same feelings with a couple nice domains I sold over the years that I wish I hadn't sold after selling them.

i don't know anything about domains... but i think the fact that it has a swear word in it takes away some of its potential?? i'd also like to hear the reply to this question as i've had a couple domains with swear words in them :)

Some adviced me to go after a company, like local companies that are already marketing something related to a domain i acquired in Classified Ads.

I have findlocalmen.com and findlocalwomen.com

I don't know if the domain has the potential for me to approach local companies or those running Ads in the papers about them. DB & KRL, if you both can kindly give me your 2cent on the potential and if you think it is worth pursuing the companies for, i would highly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
