from a network engineer.
1 shutdown everything (cable modem, router if you have one, and computer) 2 wait 30 seconds 3 turn on cable modem 4 turn on router 5 turn on computer if no router ignore the router in computer open run command type cmd enter ipconfig if you see an ip address with 169 in it your address is not workin 169.254.x.x actually if you have a router you should see an address like this Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.2 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1 if you don't have a router you should see a cox ip if you need more help you can icq me |

Funny. I seem to recall you asking me to hook you up with models last June. I have no beef with you man. Don't be a prick to me just because I'm laughing at you. Learn to laugh at yourself a little. BTW...I've shot some of the same "whores" that you have. Maybe all "whores" are worthless to you though. |

yup, have had to do it many times... but, yes cox tech support is also quite useless... |

unplug your modem for 6 hours and they will give you a new IP... with my ISP that's how it works

there's a true pimp right there :thumbsup |
I'm thinking he doesn't want to "renew" his ip. he just wants a different ip. probably got ip blocked someplace

Sounds like you're on an IP lease. Even if I renew myself I still get the same ip until I try after the IP expires. Find out how long the IP lease is for then try renewing after that.
|
I think he means he wants to renew with a new IP, and was calling cox to see if they could cancel the lease on their DHCP servers (unlikely). If you put this thread together with Danza's earlier Epoch connectivity problems, it makes sense :glugglug

Change your fucking MAC address :)
