MensNiche Still down

what's happening.. they are down from 2-3 days already :(

DutchTeenCash 04-22-2005 01:58 AM

its absurd, ive told the guy and many other he should move, could have been moved by now, any decent host would get rid of the ddos and provide a solution, I know m3 for sure would, they helped me out with a DDOS before solved within the hour.

There is much more going on than just a simple DDOS attack.

johnnyboy 04-22-2005 02:31 AM

Things are pretty fucked up at the minute but i know there working really hard to sort it.

pradaboy 04-22-2005 02:33 AM

either way this is baaaaaaaaad for business :disgust

Rui 04-22-2005 02:36 AM

I already adviced them to move, I mean this is a joke CaveCreek are acting like noobs on this one...

Trax 04-22-2005 02:48 AM

shit like that is aweful
feel sorry for them
I'm no teach guy but I would surely add a shit load of servers from other hosting companies to the network to take care of the heat if thats possible.

I already told them what they should do in order to avoid something like this from happening again (besides leaving CaveCreek for good...shit its not like they are cheap anyway...piss poor service)

As in application layer attack, syn flood attack, udp attack, and possibly others, who knows.

chodadog 04-22-2005 03:32 AM

I wasn't aware they were on cavecreek. Considering their priceds, you would think their service would be better than that. 3 days downtime? What the fuck?

it was a syn flood, but there are ways to work around that and all others too, plus companies who specialize in this, not saying its easy, but 4 days down is terrible.

I agree, 4 days of downtime seems excessive. Mensniche had made it clear, this is not a run of the mill DDOS/hacker attack. Someone is expending huge amounts of resources and money to keep them down.

pradaboy 04-22-2005 05:02 AM

I just ICQ'ed them and told them to contact ISPrime... I bet they would have them up and running in no time.

Brujah 04-22-2005 05:40 AM

Has CCBill never gotten attacked before ?

everyone told them to move to oxeo is jupiter and whoever, theyre not going to. Im pretty sure theyve got some % deal with ccbill, thats prolly why.

Im also very sure ANY decent host can handle this within the day. Id stay up 24/7 till this was done with, so say it costs a few k to take care of, 4 days of no signups at dutchteencash would be a LOT more then just a few k, there has to be another reason this is still draggin

... but I agree with you Id been gone to another host already.

yeah right thats what they all say. I think it makes them feel important. The reality of the situation is its probally some little teenage script kiddy who they pissed off in one way or another.

people just dont understand how easy it is to launch these attacks.

CAHEK 04-22-2005 06:48 AM

I'm affraid that DDOS is a common foe, and its hard to block because its like any other traffic. All you can do is make a good firewall so they can't portscan you to check for ports open. http://www.iptablesrocks.org/examples/ has a good firewall for web servers. or you could get managed to host a firewall for you, but i doubt they will.

Hope this helps.

so a firewall preventing portscans prevents a server from ddos ?

No % deal. WE have been in contact with other hosts including ones mentioned, allowed them access to the servers etc and they cant solve it, so moving isn't going to solve anything. IF any host thinks they can , then ICQ me.

Take a look and see which product may convert better for your traffic.

I'm surprised kBizzle isn't taking credit for the attacks. He takes credit for all sorts of other shit he isn't responsible for. Like, marketing anything.
