Most of you webmasters run several sites,
and own dozens or 100's of domains.

I nearly lost one of my main domains
because i forgot to check the expiery
date.
I only noticed when someone icq'ed me
to tell me my host/site was down, i checked
some of my sites and all seemed ok and then
i found it http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif lucky just in time

ever lost a domin because of that ?

Never. I've always gotten an email & a hard copy snail mail when it's time.

but what if you get whacked in gay drunken bar fight two years from now? All that extra money down the drain!

I know alot of people hate them but NetworkSolutions/Verisign is allways good about notifying you like 60 days in advance via email and even snail mail several times. These little fly by nighters don't do that.

Man , back in the day like 98 or so.. I owned PavelBure.com I mean it wasnt adult domain or anything.. but it was nice.. and forgot about it and just lost it.. i was crying for weeks... jk

and another one i lost was, StartsHere.com
its funny the people who snatched it from me when i forgot was NetworkSolutions/ Verisign..

that one was pretty tough to swallow as well : )

i'll have to start avoiding those gay bars i guess ;)

I remember I had lost an OK domain back in the early days of the net, sex.com or something... I forgot about it and it was gone like a wind... http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/wink.gif

On a more serious note - I use (have used) Register.com and they not only notify you by e-mail (US mail is only thru DirectNIC/NEtwork Solutions) but they ALSO re-register it for you if you forget to do it manually. It costs $34.99 for a year though... so better not forget. I was not pleasantly surprised when 50 or so domains got renewed at $35 a pop...

And those snail mail ones uggh - I got a renewal letter for like AnalNastyCumLickingSluts.com sent to my house a long time ago - that was embarassing then. haha

Damn it!

I forgot once and had to pay $250 to buy it again ( that guy didn't check the traffic , luckily ) . Now I have everything writen down in a calendar . Hey guys , fuck the NetSolutions , nowadays you can have domains below $ 10/year . Even directnic became too expensive .
