if you go the gym weekly, need your advice..

whats the best way to sooth really sore/tense muscles? :helpme

Tuesday i over-did my workout on the stair climber and my calves were sore, but I still worked out on Wednesday night even though I was in pain.

And today, its still really sore but I dont wanna NOT work out tonight.

Help! :Oh crap :helpme :(

drink lots of water, try to work different muscles every day...if you feel really sore, taking a day off won't hurt.

also take your vitamins and make sure you take some antioxidants, they help heal the muscle.

you arent supposed to work out on sore muscles, you need to give them time to heal. your body makes progress while your muscles are resting, not while you're working out. you need like 72 hours between working the same muscles. when i work out i break it up into 4 different days usually and then take a day off and i'm fine if i want to work out a lot.

as far as making them feel better stretching usually feels good.

i drink 10 cups (or more) of water a day, and i take a multivitamin every morning.

when i work out, i do alot of cardio then i spend about an hour lifting weights & such, so i can target every muscle group and in various ways. Maybe i'll just go lift weights tonight and give the cardio a rest.

I do one bad ass workout a week. I'm told by the only guy who I know that knows anything about body building that if you do it right, that's really all you need to do.

i gained so much weight last year, so im trying to get back down to my normal weight (which is like 30 pds lighter than what i am right now). so im on a 5-days/week workout program that a personal trainer put me on, so i can lose weight and tone my skin/muscles up at the same time.

my goal everday is to burn at least 1/2 of the calories i consumed in that day.

dont quote me on that. it depends on how hard you work them and what muscle it is. i think the only muscle that you can work out every day is your abs. if you wait 3 days between muscles you should be safe though. what i do right now is work chest/tricep, back/bicep, shoulders, and legs all on different days.

im sure its better than doing nothing. i dont know about you... but after doing so many sets i get tired. if i did one set on each muscle group i wouldnt work that muscle hard enough. not to mention that working out several times a week is good for your heart.

if you are sore today, just do the cardio and stretch.
the cardio will not make it hurt any more than it is

if you are going to lift every day or close to it, work different groups on different days.
back and bis one day, chest and tris on another, and so on

lots of water, lots of protein (helps repair) and if its super painful take a muscle relaxant.
