Why does everything that doesn't have its own flavor taste like chicken?

As a society have we just given up on new flavors? Discuss.

I wonder if it's because people eat a lot of bland food. A fried up ol' chicken breast pretty much does taste like "nothing". It's an almost neautral flavor. Now, if you have any skill with spices, herbs and sauces, you will be able to create an unforgettable flavor.

Because taste and smell go hand in hand and when we smell, our brain formulates what that scent/aroma etc is and that's how we identify/recall what it is. If something is unknown to us and/or the ingredients, elements, particles, etc whatever make that scent, our brain probably identifies the unknown scent as the closest match.

Just my guess... lol :winkwink:
