no offence to you but back when the term was created, back in the 1700's, Michigan was the mid west. Where I am now, Nebraska and all the other placed were unexplored, therfor not on any maps. My area later on was called indian country. So even 100 years later Michiagn was still lcoated in the midwest shaded part of the map.

and I would even be weary of calling states like kentucky and tennesee midwest....maybe mid-east, but definately NOT midwest

i personally think of colorado, wyoming, new mexico etc midwest...cause they are in the MIDDLE of the WEST...LOL
