What is NATS?
Never bothered to know what is, so what is NATS?
|
If you're in Canada and you run up to a bear and slap it in the face then you have some SERIOUS NATS! Aye!
|
I think it's an affiliate management system. I'm not sure exactly what it does, but the db is on the NATs server, which means that some guys and their friends know who your good affiliates are. Not information I'd want to share.
I could be wrong. |

It's the slang spelling for Gnat. 'Any of various small, biting, two-winged flies, such as a punkie or black fly.'

Its a tiny bug that flies around.

NATs are what enable LANs to use one set of IP addresses for internal traffic and another for external traffic. I have no idea why the people who created the "NATS" affiliate software didn't come up with an original name.
I guess if they're best sales pitch is "programs can't shave with out software", they're sort of lacking in the creative department. |

I suspect it was designed by programmers... And although programmers are typically brilliant at programming, they suck at anything creative or remotely user friendly. |
NATS is pretty simple. It's a cascading billing/affiliate tracking system that works with pretty much every major billing company out there.
It allows site owners to set up cascades for billing options to maximize their throughput, and thus, their affiliates income as well. Paysite owners can utilize all the functions to set up multiple payout options for affiliates, as many billing options as they are set up to use, and do it all on a customizable basis down to creating different options in both payouts and billing for individual affiliates. Nothing is shave proof, I believe their point on that situation was that if they catch program owners attempting to cheat the system, they'll terminate their agreements with them. It's been mentioned before -- and confirmed by John Albright -- that during some major growth they had a few support issues for clients -- something that they've rectified by putting more emphasis on support. As far as competition goes, that's been mentioned, one of the stronger selling points of NATS is the price, which is much lower than competing products. Is it for everyone? No more than a single biller or a single type of site or a single type of traffic is in this industry. I'd say they've got a hugely successful client satisfaction rate, I've only seen two of their clients leave for other systems since I've known the guys. |
