Anyone else think Internext is getting a little pricey?
I have heard some amounts floating around that just seem a little excessive for a webmaster show....
can someone verify this for me? attendee - $250 exhibitor - $20,000 cheapest hotel rooms - $150-200 |
250$ just to attend ? It's way too much expensive !!!
|
You consider that pricey?

Compared to trade shows in many other industries it's extremely expensive. In fact many of the larger industry specific trade shows around the world are free these days with pre-registration. |
it's extremly pricey
especially for those who aren't going to attend the seminars |
It is way too high, not a little pricey.
|
Of course given the subject matter the plus side is that it keeps many of the general public and dirty mac brigade away so it can be said to have a reason. However, whatever the reason for it, as above is IS very expensive for a trade show entrance.
Even factoring in the seminars - again at most trade events these are often free too or optional at an additional cost as many will not want to go to them. |
most trade shows make the money off of the exhibitors, seems the Internext people are trying to make money on both. I even heard rumours of them selling sponsor ads on toilet paper?
|
My friends currently at the NAB which is the largest video show its in Vegas and the tickets are free. That includes all the seminars and parties.

$250 is just the entrace fee to the show, but it is also what you have to pay to get into the hotel.. There will be no locals or anyone NOT associated with the show allowed into the hotel. If you didn't pay the $250 for the show, you don't get into the hotel.. I think that factors a bit into the price of everything too
|
I agree, and I think that by limiting the attendees via expensive pricing does the advertisers no good whatsoever.
The best all around option is to have little or no fee (other than hotel reservations) so the number of prospective clients rises and makes the sponsorship fees worthwhile. I doubt many sponsors like the idea of paying several grand to have the chance of gaining 100 clients versus the chance of gaining 1000. |

If those prices are true, they are killing their show business.
By eliminating the number of show attendees, as higher prices will always do, they make exhibitors less interested in having a booth. Now, add to that the booth price is actually INCREASING by a lot, and you lose even more exhibitors. It's simple: if you raise exhibitor prices, they should be compensated by attracting more eyeballs / more business. I don't knwo many people who like paying more money for less.... Vegas already seemed to be less popular of an event than last year, (that may be due to scheduling conflicts with other shows though), but I think this will only get worse and worse. Shows like Phoenix are the new trend that should really take off! Sponsors get great value for their money in exposure, and attendees all have a blast at minimal costs. :2 cents: |

Yes there will and it will be a trade show that is in Vegas and not during the CES- wait until it's announced it should blow the roof off over on Eton Ave... Everything from what I am hearing will be FREE to all webmasters coming - in the style of a Phoenix Forum. Just in Vegas.. Look out for more info as it comes available. |

i think the fact they raised teh prices from $150 to $250 is pretty wild. AVN seems set on selling advertising spots on anything and everything they can. Last year I rented a cabana by teh pool for $200 a day, plus the hotel rooms for our team....with bottles of water going for $7 in a room, and booze at $10 a drink, it makes for a pretty pricey convention. If you factor in hosting a party, like we have done on numberous occassions (normally a suite party or yacht party) you're talking $20,000 before you have bought a drink, and talked to a prospective client.
