Myst 04-18-2005 01:31 PM

you dont think its gonna keep going up?

Nysus 04-18-2005 01:32 PM

Do you really think the CAD won't equal the USD in the next few years? The US is TRILLIONS in debt... and getting deeper every day. It'll be another trillion in debt in 2 years with current spending.. That doesn't sound too great to me.....

Rather, CAD will likely equal USD in the next few years, maybe 5-10 but it'll happen.

Do you think 1.24 is the highest it'll go / best conversion rate? Do you know what it's been over the past year?

Matt

A few months ago I was depositing cheques at 1.17 and receiving western union's at 1.13...

1.24 is definitely worth converting over given the last year.

VeriSexy 04-18-2005 01:40 PM

Not bad........ :thumbsup

hey juicy , don't goto the banks or i should say try avoiding .
Try places like tourist stores (most of the places have a board with the current rates outside posted) , custom exchange places . Depends how much u want to change though .

Take your US dollars to any bank in Canada and you will be given current exchange rate dude.

If you were to do it today you'd get $1.23 Cdn for every one of your US dollars :D

When I started in this biz that rate was at $1.46. It later went as high as $1.62, and on that day I transferred over $3k from my US account. Sa-weet. Them where the days.

That's the best rate in a long time. I got 1.22 last week and thought I was in heaven! Here's hoping it goes up a few points more ... :thumbsup

webgurl 04-18-2005 01:59 PM

i know don't u remember when u can get 1500 off every 1K WOWeeee , now u are lucky to get 1200 :(

Evil Chris 04-18-2005 02:00 PM

I always demand one rate higher than what they give you automatically. It adds up after not too long.

Are you joking.. We'll be having another election very soon and all the idiots pissed off about the sponsorship scandal will vote for our own religious fanatic racist conservative party... They'll do what conservatives do and drive us into debt and thus our CAD will go in the crapper again and the exchange rate will go up..

Vitasoy 04-18-2005 02:58 PM

My bank rate shows 1.224 still very nice

As far as I know, and I'm speaking about all the banks I know of in my area, anyone can take US cash in and exchange it for Canadian. And yes, they take a small cut but so what? It's close enough to current exchange to be worth it.

Also, at least at my own banks, they take no cut of what I, an account holder, transfer. None. I get current exchange rate, period. Don't know about anyone else's bank.

You do know that the "buy" rate is always a bit different than the "sell" rate at banks, don't you? When exchanging US for Canadian you are always going to get a bit less per dollar, usually about 2 cents.

the buy rate is just better the currency exchange places. i know a couple weeks ago i got 1 percent higher rate at the exchange than i did at my bank an hour prior (and the dollar didnt fluctuate for shit that day).

Paraskass 04-18-2005 07:23 PM

Don't convert now.

The canadian dollar will drop when the government collapses.
Wait for the Torries and the Bloq to dissolve the house of commons before you convert.
