Fucking NameCheap.com

don't use these fuck offs.. I normally wouldn't use them but I bought a domain that was registered with them so I let the name stay there. I rarely logged into the account as that was my only name with them, and the name was parked and not in use. Well I just found out the name expired on the 16th and they didn't send me one fucking reminder notice.

Anyone have any experience in getting a name back from them? Looks like the domain is in redemption period but there is no info in my account area on how to get the name back. Anyone have a phone number for these guys?

alexg 04-18-2005 12:31 PM

almost all my domains are at namecheap

There wont be another one of mine with them after this.. I will admit it's my fault that I didn't keep up with the expiration date, but I never got a single warning e-mail either. Meanwhile registers like registryfly.com send so many warning notices it's annoying some times.

The other thing every register I've ever used gave a grace period of 30 days that you could get the name back if you wanted. This doesn't seem to be the case with namecheap from what I can see.

i get many notices from them

Roald 04-18-2005 12:41 PM

I had the exact same thing, contacted them by mail and got a reply within a day. Only diffrence with me was that I didn't had access anymore to the email I used for the domain. So I had to verufy it was me and they moved it back 1 day later. Terrific support on this problem I had.

BlueWire 04-18-2005 12:41 PM

I just dont like their system. Its cheap. I dont like em :)

I just went through my e-mail account for the last 2 months in the delete bin or inbox there is not a single e-mail from them. I double checked my e-mail in my namecheap profile and its correct.

Ironically they are offering my name up for sale at this time My whois still shows up for the name.. yet it's like it never existed in my namecheap account.

I hope this turns out to be the case.. you don't happen to have a phone support number for them do you?

Roald 04-18-2005 12:43 PM

Did you try this:

If you click on "manage domains" you will see a link called "reactivate".
You will see this: Domain List Renew Reactivate

Click on "Reactivate" and you will be able to see your expired domains, as well as renew them from there.

MetaMan 04-18-2005 12:44 PM

anyone used registerfly for backordering? supposedly it wont even show any of your backorders until you have actually captured the domain.

this seems kind of weird to me, anyone tried it?

Evil Jawa 04-18-2005 12:44 PM

don't blame the company because you're an idiot.
should have entered a working email.

i always get notices.

yea I tried that, the name isn't there, yet it only expired 2 days ago.. isn't there supposed to be a 30 day grace period?

What part of "I double checked my e-mail in my namecheap profile and its correct" do you not understand? Seems you only need to look in the mirror to find the closest idiot.

Yes I have gotten them before for a different domain I had with namecheap.. but not this domain..

RichardK 04-18-2005 04:38 PM

Hello Crockett,

We do in fact allow you a 30 day grace period to renew your domain after it expires and before it goes into redemption. Our renewal system is also automated so renewal emails are sent out to all domains that are 45 days from expiration automatically. There may be spam filters or something similar at work here.

Regardless, If you send me an email to [email protected] with "Attention Richard K." in subject line I will personally see what the status of your domain is and help you get it renewed as soon as possible.

If anyone else here ever has any problems with our system, please do not hesitate to contact me directly as I am almost always available.

Best,

Richard K.

I wanted to say first off I did find a 1 day renewal notice that was filtered out by spam filters. So I will take full responsibility for the missing the e-mails as they seem to have been sent. I'm not sure why they were filtered, because I have received other e-mails in the past that weren't filtered out from namecheap but that isn't your fault

This is from the e-mail..

Domain Name : ********.com
Registered on : 4/15/2004 5:23:39 PM
Registered for : 1 year(s)
Expires on : 4/15/2005 5:23:39 PM
Days to Expire : 1

The 15th was 3 days ago but according to your support e-mail the domain is now under control of another registrar. So there doesn't seem to be any 30 day grace period.

Hello,
The domain in fact appears to be under another registrar.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

Regards,
Jerry G.
Namecheap.com

So again I will admit total fault on the missing e-mails however according to the support e-mail I received the 30 day grace period didn't happen. Can you tell me why there was no 30 day grace period?

crockett 04-18-2005 05:37 PM

Also is namecheap a reseller for enom? Enom seems to be the registrar in control of the domain.

I looked up your domain and it is showing properly in the account but is under the "re-activate" tab and is not in redemption. Are you sure you are looking under the correct username?

I sent you an email as well in case you get to this first.

Actually crocket, if you click on this link http://www.namecheap.com/myaccount/reactivatelist.asp
and log into your account you will in fact see the domain listed there under "re-activate".

I know the "re-activate" tab is a little hard to see sometimes. We will be releasing an entirely new interface in the next week that will make it much easier to locate. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused you.

I've checked it and the domain was not listed.. checked it a few times.. I was also sent a e-mail stating another registar was in control of the name now.

This is what I see when I check the reactivate section..

"None of your domains need reactivation at this time."

RichardK 04-18-2005 06:29 PM

You must be checking under the wrong username as I just logged into the account the domain is in and it is showing properly there.

I will send you an email with the correct username.

crockett 04-18-2005 07:01 PM

Ok I just wanted to give a heads up on the results. I just got the domain back thanks to the info RichardK sent me.

When I originally bought the domain it was transfered into a temp account and the seller gave me control of that account. I then transfered it to one of my own accounts but looks like that transfer never took place and the domain stayed in the temp account.

Which is the reason I never got the e-mails because they were going to a generic [email protected] instead of my main e-mail so they were filitered out as spam. This is also the reason the domain didn't show under account I thought the domain was in, to reactivate it.

So things worked out and I'll give RichardK top props for hooking me up. I'm not sure why I was told in the other e-mail that the domain was gone, but all is good now and I'm happy the name wasn't lost. :winkwink:
