Has anyone ever shipped a crate overseas? im talking ship sized crate
One of those big ass ship containers?
Things are so cheap here im thinking since i know alot of people well here that i might start shipping it over...you can sell anything here for four times the price back home. Has anyone tried something like this? I suppose customs etc would be a pain Im looking fo costs...of course ill look elsewhere but you'd be suprised at what business people on here have done in the past. |
Usually they go through customs broker and shipping lines..Air freight is outrageous so by boat is more economical but time restraints and availability etc. What size crate and weight?
|
I had to have a satellite dish shipped over by air from the US to Europe.
A 3.7m diameter dish which comes in 2 halfs, plus a bunch of other things. Costed like 8 grand in USD I believe. (not ENTIRELY sure though). And that was 5 years ago. |

il have to check some shipping companies...i think there are some large ones based in vancouver..thanks :thumbsup |
are you talking asia to canada?
|
Shop around when you are looking for quotes. I shipped 2 pallets (could've been 3 too... don't remember) filled with large size moving boxes from San Francisco to Sweden by boat and I got everything from $500-$2000. Make sure EVERYTHING is included in the quote otherwise you will get hit with a bunch of small fees that some "forget" to include.

thanks guys...yeah im talking from asia to canada...the opportunity is good enough to make me look into it seriously.
Got trusted people here in Korea...and im on the other side in Canada...so if the shipping and customs costs are not huge..there could be a good amount of margin in it. I'm seeing some ridiculously low prices in stores here..so i imagine wholesale prices are even better. |
Done that a zillion times for my former job, lmk if I can do anything, it it needs to be shipped to EU I can help you out 16 91 547
edit : asia to canada just saw that sorry just waking up here... k well shouldnt be trouble but go for FOB (free on board) then get an agent to clear customs, make sure its crated ok NOT boxed thats damn expensive, if they have a zero percentage rate (meaning the agent can do customs themselves) Id prefer that |
You might wanna check import taxes on stuff AND if its compliant. If youre selling electronics you gotta have English manuals etc, EU has some stricter guidelines for that, but Im sure Canada has them too, re radio transmission guidelines etc. Otherwise youre stuck with a load of shit you cant resell. Check twice my 2 cents

toronto is home...im thinking of shipping general gadgets, small items...nothing name branded of course as i'll have to obey their price laws for example..laser key chains are 2 bucks here...they go for 20-30 bucks in toronto. t-shirts...i can but almost anything and also have some friends with factories here that make knock offs of expensive brand names...not the route i want to take...but their is a huge opportunity here. silver necklaces which i priced in toronto for 100 cdn you can buy for like 12 bucks..the price differences are amazing |

been here since the 10th....im coming back on the 24th ill hit you up and say hello :thumbsup |

If you're gonna try a business like this, you should really stick to a few items rather than spreading yourself thing. I'd avoid electronics because of customs but other items like tshirts or jewelery can probably bring in a nice return. WG |

good idea...import export laws shouldn't be hard to find ill be in touch for sure :thumbsup |

yeah i am seeing prices on t-shirts for like 3 bucks...which could easily sell for 20-30 bucks..the mark up opportunity is huge |

you know it...im thinking to drive though as im hella sick of planes been on a plane almost every two weeks for a long time if i grab a car you want to drive up? |
Getting into the import/export game I imagine is rather tought though, once you find wholesalers who will buy your goods, you need to have a constant supply coming in. Depending on the items I would think the upfront capital involved would be rather large. Of course, I'm just speculating, I really have no experience when it comes to Imp/Exp.

You would never belive the crap over sending your hardware to an overseas datacenter and the hoops you have to jump through. |

I have some friends that I helped ship cars and motorcycles in these big containers, and they would fill the card up with Levis, and other things that were cheaper or unattainable back home. I never asked him how much it cost, but I really don't think it cost more than a couple grand. |
You will most likely end up getting your ass raped in customs :(
|
believe it or not..sat beside two guys who do shipping international..fluent in english and korean
only $3500 CDN to ship 8000kg from korea....theyy also have guys in korean customs..and toronto...almost seems too good to pass up ill bump this thread when i have emptied the first crate....store front space is how im going while always looking to sell to a large multi chain store |
Might be hard to move 8 tons of merchandise, let alone buy 8 tons worth all upfront.
