Starting a CCBILL paysite

Just looking into this atm, what do you think the minimum upfront costs for a paysite using ccbill is?

I've got about $5k to play with,

$2-3k for content?
$1k designs?
$1k promotion(for first month.. webmaster and surfer promotions)
$800 visa ccbill fees?

wtfent 04-15-2005 09:58 PM

5k will be tough but that doesn't mean it cant be done. Good luck! :thumbsup

EddiePulp 04-15-2005 09:59 PM

I've always got time to add to it, I'm talking initial, upfront costs.

IMHO, spend the money wisely purchasing paid spots sending traffic to rev share sponsors that convert and retain well and you'll realize a much great ROI than you would starting a pay site on a budget of $5,000

im fishing affiliates here ! :)

seriously now if it was 5k-6k for just content i could see a possible startup, but don't expect affiliates before your members area will have a real value to surfers.

Don't listen to this guy. It will be hard but if you can spend around $2,000 or so a month without making any profit for the first couple months it is possible.

beemk 04-15-2005 10:18 PM

5k? keep saving unless you're the talent.

Theo 04-15-2005 10:19 PM

Yeah, don't listen to this guy. He's only been in biz for about 5 years after all so what does he know? :winkwink:

Don't listen to THIS guy... Look at his fucking sig! What'd you expect him to sahhhh!

Have you considered an AEN?

Have you considered plugging your content into an AEN format and using your money to generate traffic? Cooperate with your content providers and they might go in on a revshare basis, leaving you with minimal web design setup fees.

Then your $5,000 will = 5,000,000 million "low-end-looking-for-free-porn" hits or 100,000 paid search engine hits.

Forget ccbill. Seriously. Too many people turn off cookies or reject them these days. No cookie, no money, no reason to promote your program. Go for NATS or some other solution that actually allows real tracking.

GOOD LUCK to you whatever you choose and I hope this works out profitable for you!! :-)

abadfish 04-16-2005 12:17 AM

I started with 1/5th what you have...lol

The visa fee was the most expensive thing... you can get a server for $150 a month, a domain for $15 a year... Rather then spend $2,000 on content why don't you spend $1,000 on a camera and shoot your own?

Wasn't it just a few months ago that CCBill implemented a backup to the cookie for referral tracking?

Go for it

CashLikeWhoa_Mike 04-16-2005 01:52 AM

with 5k initial it can be done with the right planning, and smart moves.

what niche are you aiming for?

Goose 04-16-2005 01:57 AM

good luck man! It's not impossible with 5k.

xNetworx 04-16-2005 02:01 AM

How much content can you get for 2-3k? Not enough for a customer to rebill IMO. You need way more content to keep your members happy. A decent sized DVD library alone costs well over 10k.
