Anyone know if they require ID?

I recently had to renew my license and the fucking gov't is taking their sweet time mailing me my new drivers license. Thats basically the only gov't issued ID i have here (university, away from 'home').. apart from my health care card (which is a cheesy little info card printed on what looks like newspaper paper) but it has only my birthdate, not a photo or anything.

But anyway, does Joeys require ID?
