psyko514 04-15-2005 02:04 PM

azguy 04-15-2005 02:05 PM

Everything is illegal in this country, so yes :)

chemicaleyes 04-15-2005 02:15 PM

DutchTeenCash 04-15-2005 02:20 PM

youll pay it back, happened to me once a LOT of money the dutch telecom company made a mistake and paid out on my personal account lol... they got it back including interest... sigh

Susan F 04-15-2005 02:22 PM

I wonder if you could get away with it. I personally wouldnŽt be able to keep it, IŽd report it. My conscience is tooooo big...

psyko514 04-15-2005 02:25 PM

the bank *will* notice it's missing and they'll debit your account. if your account is closed, they'll send you to collections.

they don't always catch it.. I had a bank deposit into my account years ago.. I guess they typed in the wrong account number and the other customer did not get credit. I would also assume that the customer did not catch it either.. therefore, I kept my mouth shut...

not sure how much it was btw, over 80 employees months wages deposited on my account. Anyhow I didnt even have the chance of calling my bank, it was already gone.

I also had a bank error that went unnoticed for a very long time. I had opened a free checking account many years back. The balance on it went under 20.00 and I had accounts at a different bank that I used more often so never had the time to go in and close it out.
Then out of the blue one day the bank called me about the account. They saw there was no activity in some time and that my money could be of better use elsewhere. This caught me off guard since I totally forgot about the account and when they called my memory came back sort of and I was a bit surprised to get such a concerned call about a few bucks. So I asked them what they think I should do with it. The lady said maybe I should move it into a CD or something that was interest bearing. I laughed and asked what kind of CD's are selling for so low. She then said sir you can purchase any type you want and see a nice return on the nine thousand you have in there. I about dropped the phone.

I then went and looked through all my old statements still in their envelopes. Apparently around two years prior a deposit was made for nine thousand dollars. The bank insists it is my money and that they made no error.
