Only take in foods/fluids that you're used to!
When I did my first one, at mile 11 my dad gave me a "Gu" packet which I hadn't used before. I didn't take it w/ enough liquid and almost had to stop to throw up because it was like a brick in my stomach!
Good luck!! Marathon's are awesome if the course is interesting enough! Just listen to your body. At some stations I wanted water. At others, I wanted a sports drink (which I normally can't stand). At one point, I would've killed for some ice and wouldn't you know, there was someone down the street giving out ice!! lol
