The Pope was a stupid conservative bastard who cost millions their lives.

Finally some people are coming out with stories about how much of an asshole the pope was.

Fuck I'm happy they are.

Do you know how many fucking people are dying and died and will die because the pope personnaly said that people shouldn't use condoms. For God's sake. Millions of people in africa are extremely faithfull and catholic. Those words by the pope made it very hard to promote condoms and safe sex.

Fuck you Jean-Paul.

I think the pope meant well (in his own stupidly-religous way) but as usual the stupid-religous people follow another bullshit-religous pope, so what do you expect?

Did I mention how STUPID religion is?

SykkBoy 04-14-2005 08:06 PM

and don't forget about the rapists and child molestors he aided and abetted......

pxxx 04-14-2005 08:20 PM

That is going to affect a lot of people.

Huggles 04-14-2005 08:25 PM

Not to mention that their zoos don't have fences. It's like the animals can just go anywhere!

Exactly right. This is the worst of all. The Pope and the Catholic church never made an official statement in relation to this. They're happy for it to be swept under the carpet.

Its john paul for a start. He was actaully quite liberal in his views.

I personaly dont think the aids epidemic in Africa was his fault. You cant blame one sinlge guy or a religion for something like that.

I wear condoms becuase I'm eductated, I know the health risks. In Africa they dont and a condom costs a weekly wage.

And I'm not a catholic or religious by the way.

You know who killed more people in Africa than the Pope? Rachel Carson, with her book "Silent Spring" and the DDT ban that followed. How many millions died of malaria who didn't have to?

Religious nuts and environmental nuts have a lot in common. They are both anti-human-life.

xxxdesign-net 04-14-2005 09:36 PM

Sadly.. the pope was more concerned about gay marriage and "moral issues" than with world poverty and the planet's pollution problems..

If those were really priorities for him.. he did one hell of a shitty job spreading to word.. Ask the Religious Right whats their priorities..

:2 cents:

Condoms are in high demand in African countries, the governments don't want anything to do with it so you have a black market. I used to frequent a corner store here that is owned by an African fella. He told me that before he moved to Canada he was a condom smuggler. He made a ton of money. He got sick of the killing over religious beliefs and left. Took his money with him and bought up a fuckload of property and a store. He was making more selling condoms than he does from 20some appartment buildings and business spaces he leases in Canada.

Blame the religion, not the man. John Paul only upheld the traditional values of the roman Catholic Faith. Do you think the next pope will be any different? The guy actually did a lot for the world. Has anyone else really concerned themselves with Africa? We haven't. Bush isn't. So why blame the fucking Pope. If people are that shallow to believe that birth control & condoms are morally wrong, then Fuck em.

rickholio 04-14-2005 10:41 PM

You can't really blame the pope for widespread AIDS in africa, or at least not all that much.

For one, condoms are helluva pricey there. A couple bucks for a pack may be cushion change for us, but there that's a day's wage or more.

Second, common folklore in some countries has it that if you have sex with a virgin, YOU'LL BE CURED OF AIDS. Well, you can imagine how effective THAT is... at spreading the infection, that is. Often times, forcibly on very underaged girls (we're talking 7, 8 years old here).

Pope might notta been all that, but I don't think you can reasonably pin this one on him. :2 cents:

Bush is worse.

to me, during his funeral, it was the ultimate slap in the face to places like africa. They buried him in a plain wood casket and the person narrating the funeral was going on and on about how he had nothing and died, littereally owning nothing and tried to make it look like he lived in poverty and suffered for the masses.

he didn't own anything because he didn't need to. He lived in a house that even the most wealthy would call extravagant. He was cooked for by some of the best chefs in the world. He had a small army of servants waiting on him hand and foot. If I had that, and a group ( the church ) taking care of my every need I wouldn't need to own anything either.

I'm sure he did some good for the world, but I think there were just as many bad things too.
