New Business Concept: Quick Question?

Hello All,

I used to own XTCY Video archive back in the day. I am starting a new business and wanted some feedback on the concept if you didnt mind?

When I had my video site the biggest headaches were bandwidth, storage capacity and the encoding of the video etc.

If there was a company that provided encoding of mpegs, terabytes of storage and the ability to stream dvd quality video. Do you think that it would take off with adult site owners?

Examples of video that I have encoded.

www.drivelight.com/demo1 - Demo of movie clip. Original file size was 94MB now its 43MB and still has the original quality.

www.drivelight.com/demo2 -Demo of intro that could be placed at the front of any video produced.

Progressive download and/or streaming in flash is fairly new.

Do you think that it would work on the adult side or should I just focus on mainstream?

Thank You for the help.

What did you encode it with?

Amazing quality! would love to see more stuff like this on the internet.
I'm sure there will be a demand for it in adult.
Good luck!

Sorry, cant tell you what I encoded it with I hope you understand.

Since it's flash though it should be to hard to find. With the adoption of 3G service in some major US cities I would be able to offer the ability for adult site owners to stream video to their clients cell phones and PDA's.

Do you see this as a benefit as well?

Would site owners be willing to upload their raw mpeg scenes and allow another company to encode, store and either download or stream them for them?

What I havent seen in the industry, and this may be due to my lack of knowledge is a dedicated company that would make this possible.

Better question, is it needed in the indutry?

Thank You once again...

I can't help you much, just wanted to say that the quality kicks ass.

17.3MB/min is a tad to large for streaming and even still i think you could probably get an even smaller file size using Xvid/DiVX and possibly even M$'s new lossless video codec (which is what i suspect this clip is).

for a 120 minute DVD movie that means about 2GB, which i think in general is probably double the size of what people tend to put up on their site and thus double the bandwidth usage. From experience i usually send a DVD encoded in 3 formats at 2-3 different bitrates/resoultions to customers and it only comes to 2-3GB.

However, I love the quality of the clip! Would you mind encoding a couple samples at lets say
320x240 @ 500kbps
544x408 @ 800kbps
as i would like to see the quality at those bitrates/resolutions :)

Would be more then happy to do the samples for you. Just get in touch with my via IM and we can go from there.
