Dog Owners : Do you believe in shock collars?
I'm thinking about getting one for my boxer but I don't want anything that will hurt him in any way. If it's a mild shock just to let him know he's doing something wrong then I have no problem with that but to inflict pain in any sort isn't my style.
Has anyone used one before and I know this is a an odd question, but has anyone tried it on themselves to see what the pain factor is? |
NO
owners who make their dogs wear that should be shot  |
We used a lemon-spray collar that worked well.
It launched some lemon scent to the doggys face when he barked. We had to do it because we live in an apartment building and neighbors didn't like it. He never barked when we were around, only when he was alone. Nowdays we put the collar on, but it doesn't have a battery in it anymore, so he could bark as much as he'd like without retaliation.. but he doesn't :) |
for the dog... no
for the gf/wife... yes |
A friend of my sister's had to buy one for her dog because neighbors were complaining too much that he barked all the time....you could definitely see him think about barking before he did when he wore that collar...LOL
It did help...but in the long run I think it's better to maybe take some classes on training which they offer at places like Petco..or if you don't have the time put him in obedience school..but make sure it's one that uses positive reinforcement and not pain or punishment. |
no i think that's inhumane!!!

Yes - and beatings. You have to put the strong hand down on your pets every once in a while.
