GOOGLE found a brother I never knew I had
So....
My dad calls me, tells me he needs to come tell me something in person.... im thinking, "what the fuck is he going to lecture me about now...." so he gets here and is like, "there was this girl i was dating way back in '65" i was like, *turntable scratch* " i have a brother i never knew about?" and he said "ya". Anyhow, im 30. i have 5 other brothers and sisters. 2 from my dads side and 2 from my moms. but im the only one from MY mom and dad. He was married before my mom once and my mom was married once before my dad. Now I have 6. I now know that I have another 38 year old brother, 1 year older than my prior 'eldest' brother that ive been growing up with for the past 30 years. So turns out, my dad was dating this woman before his first marriage, she got pregnant. Her parents were hardcore catholic jerks and wouldnt let her tell him that she was preggo... So he never knew until 2 weeks ago..... Get this..... My dad is computer illiterate. He knows very very little about his laptop, only how to search the web for shit. He spends hours doing it. He typed his name into google (name is very unique, my last name is McNerney so not much out there on us) and the results showed him something that made him fall out of his chair. He saw an old GF's name next to "Birth mother" and he saw his name next to "Birth father" at adoption.com in THE FUCKING RESULTS. So he has 2 choices, to either close the window and pretend its a coincidence, or to further investigate this crazy coincidence... he chooses the latter. He contacts adoption.com, they contact the adtoped mother, she contacts my dad.... at this point, he's thinking there's a 50% chance this supposed kid's really his. Then the adopted mother sent him a picture. The picture (even though we have diff moms, looks just like me). Its obvious we share a father. My dad's 50% rose to 99% in his head immmediately. He went and did DNA, came back 99.987444% that the kid was his. So my dad finds the real mom and asks "WTF?". She tells my dad how her parents wouldnt let her tell him about the kid and up until a week before the kid (Joseph, my dad's middle name) was born, she had been knitting his clothing and was so excited to have the child. Her parents made her give the kid up for adoption at birth. She had no clue and now claims that was the worst day of her life and that she wanted that kid more than life itself. So my dad made arrangements to meet this guy... flew out from Wisconsin, drove up to Santa monica and met him. he's 38 years old. My dad's 56. Joe had no idea he was meeting his real father, he was told he was meeting a friend's of his mothers. This was incase my dad chicken'd out on telling this poor guy he was his dad. So my pops told the man, "I really came here to tell you, I am your real dad". They talked awhile, exchanged all numbers and addy's and this Saturday I get to meet the brother I never knew I had. :) I feel so bad for this poor guy... His adopted dad died at his age of 3, then his second adoppted dad died at 12. Then at 13 his adopted mom sent him off elsewhere where he ran off with his best friend and his friend shot himself in the head. He's been through a lot and I wish he couldve been raised with my 5 other siblings in a HUGE home. I have never felt this type of pain before.... almost as painful as watching a brother or sister be tortured... i feel so bad that he couldnt have had the life his 3 other brothers had. My dad wouldve loved to add him to our portfolio. Anyhow, crazy night.... Just told my mom and she was like... "that fucker#*$#$#" then she realized it was well before her. |
wow !!! not much else to say
|

Crazy story man.
Are you excited? Is he excited? I don't know how I would react if somebody told me they were my father. |
Good luck with you and your brother in the future. It's never to late to get to know someone.
|
That's an awesome story. Goes to show that blood is thicker than water.
Congrats on having found your brother mate :thumbsup |
Im sooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sad for the guy for what he's been through. Ive had it sooooOOOOOOO easy it feels like....
When he and my dad were finished having lunch today and saying goodbye, he told my dad: I LOVE YOU DAD! Made me serious break an eye sweat. My dad found his real mom and told her everything, she wants to meet him too now. It's like a dream come true I htink. |

I am a pretty "whatever..." kinda guy. When my dad told me about this, I instanty thought, "WHY COULDNT HE HAVE BEEN RAISED LIKE ME?" i felt the feeling of that your brother or sister being tortured. It felt aweful. This is my blood, even though Ive known him an hour, I'll kill for him@! |
ps. the DNA reports are stoney....
he came out: Probability 99.98774444% |
Ganja, that was a compelling story and thanks for sharing. He sounds like he has been through a ton. Build a friendship, blood is forever - and you guys could have a lot in common. :)

Well... He's staying in some sort of sober living deal. So I think he's been though more than Ive claimed. So we probably couldnt hang out much seeing I take bong hits all the time etc.... Not sure though, we shall see this saturday. He has 3 blood brothers that he's never met. :thumbsup |
WOW, touching post.
I understand how you would feel about you having the better life and him not. Don't beat yourself up over it though, it's nobody's fault but the mother's. She had a choice and chose to side with her nutty parents. He's 38 and still has a long while to go yet, maybe with your father's guidance and inclusion into your family things will go the way they are supposed to be for him from now on. I "may" have a half brother in my home town. When my mother first met my father he just got out of a relationship with another girl. The story goes that he got her pregnant and later they split then she slept with and married another guy and the guy thinks that he is the father. The kid, his "father" and my father don't know. From what my mother tells me I used to chum with the boy when I was really young but I don't know who the fuck she's talking about. She won't even tell me his name, who the mother is or nothing. She's very vague. All she told me is that I chummed with a kid in school that is actually my brother and that he lives a very comfortable life. I'd like to know who the guy is. Not to tell him who is real father is, I'll leave that up to my own father to do once I find out who the kid is, well not kid anymore... he'd be 27 now, but so I could at least know who he is. From what my mother said is that he looks just like me and I'm surprised I never noticed it from anyone in school because all males on my fathers side, myself, his kids and my son all look alike. Very distinguishing traits. I don't even know where to begin, my mother and I are not on talking terms, in fact, I have no idea where she is anymore. She's been warned that her life may end as she knows it if she steps foot on my property. I'll sign her into a mental institution for the rest of her life where she belongs. Anyways, any ideas on how to find out who he is would be greatly appreciated. Maybe there's some kind of a database in Canada that keeps track if shit like this as I would assume that the real biological father's name would have to be documented at least somewhere. |

i cant imagine meeting a man for an hour or two and telling him i loved him as a father. The void just killls me. I get to meet him on saturday. He will get to BBQ with 3 blood brothers he never knew he had.... that wouldve been sooo Stoked to have been raised with us. |
Well. I guess Good for you. But I am not sure how I would feel. Especially if my father said that he wanted to talk to me now. He died in 1984, so if he wanted to talk to me now, I think I would be a little freaked out.

My ex-wife discovered she had an older brother when she was like 30 something. Her father died, so the other sisters told her about her having a brother that was disowned by the family because he had a drinking problem.
Now, they lived in a small town in TX, and it turns out this guy has been living there the entire time, and knew who she was, had seen her . . . never said a thing. That was a trip when he showed up at the funeral. |

I saw a doco once where this married guy with 4 kids eventually discovered that NONE were his. His wife was cheating on him.
He made a very good point - until you have DNA tests, you can never be 100% sure that you are the father of a child. You can also never be sure that you're not the father of a child. Think: heat of the moment breakup sex, or a partner suddenly dumping you or disappearing... Good luck with the meeting. :thumbsup |
Wow thats a cool story, and other ones in the thread as well :)
|
amazing story, and like others have said "WOW" is about all I can think of to say beyond that...
