Need a HOME AUDIO setup, what do I get?
Obviously I know jack about home audio but I need to buy something.
I'd like it to be asthetically pleasing to the eye (i.e. nothing huge and ugly) and within about 1-2k. I believe I just need a receiver and front/center/rear speakers right? Should I go with one of those out of the box solutions or get something piece by piece? If so what? |
You probably need a sub, too. I had no idea what I was doing when I put together mine 18 months ago, but it sounds pretty good. Serves its purpose well, I spent about $700 total for receiver, fronts, backs, center, and sub.

oh yea also, anyone here have a method to sort of track down (or common reasons) for the rattling noises that occur (doesnt sond like its from the speakers) when the bass is at a certain level.
sounds like fixtures are loose in the house or something... is this common? |

i mean, i barely watch tv as it is so it doesnt have to be INSANE but i'd like it to be nice and more importantly (as homosexual as it sounds) look nice cuz I'm in the process of re-decorating the pad :) |
I love my Klipsch RC35, RF35 pair, RB 35 pair, Titanic 15" sub system. Now it cost more then 2k but it is great. Movies are awesome with explosions and all that stuff. Can def shake the walls :) I got a denon receiver with it all also. Whatever you do, tell your dealer to take your price down 20% if you buy it all through him. I got everything but my sub through the same Klispch dealer and got him to go down 20% off their sticker price.
