Question to the Pay Site Pros...

I had a webmaster change his pay site from the old style tours to the new style and he is losing sales.

You would think its would do better.
You think he should put it back or give it time.
This is a Gay site by the way.

I didn't want to link the site due to his privacy.

Thanks,

It's a bit hard to know why without seeing the old and new tours.. how many pages the old tour was, what was being offered, what type of gay site etc.

Changing tours is a stressful time - www.sexgaymes.com just changed it's tour from an older kinda weird style but not the 800x600 old style you're talking about to a newer dynamic tour. For 6 hours i think we didn't get a single sale and i nearly choked, then they started coming in like an avalanche.. We're converting better than ever before - surprisingly better actually - i'd suggest adding some video type animation and rotating some models on the front so every time a surfer visits they see something different. Also make sure that the content is being updated regularly and that surfers can see this in the release dates, if it means supplementing your unique content with purchased vids then so be it.

YARGH!

I had a site from way back that did great, I thought redesigning it might help it do better. It didn't.
I have tried a number of times, but each time I end up putting it back.
If his sales are such that a decline is apparent so quickly, it's the design, and he should change it back.

Pirate mode re-enabled
YARGH! Ahoy Me Kayaks! Where be me Peg Leg wax! YARGH! YARGH! YARGH! That's better.

That has got to hurt. If it is not broken, i don't see a reason to fix it. 2cents.

If you noticed a drop in sales that fast, switch it back for sure!

I'm willing to bet the original designer is gay and the designer of the new tour is not. Gay people can smell that a mile away.

:2 cents:

From what i can infer. I dont think that the people who join gay or tranny sites are actually gay themselves.

I run mostly all staright sites. Correction ALL straight sites. Its amazing that every once in a while ill throw in some gay/tranny stuff and it will sell hot.

One thing he could try is rotate his tours and make modifications to the new tour until it converts better than the old one. Also whenever replacing an old tour always always always make triple sure all links are working properly, to all vids and of course do a test sign up.. i know it's basics but theres bound to be at least one wrong link somewhere in a complicated tour.

I wouldn't rule out the new tour. I'd try to figure out what it is about the old tour that made it sell better. Some probably obvious things; Look really hard at the text. Look especially hard at the navigation of the site. Compare the content used in the tours.

yeah exactly, doesn't matter how good a tour is, there is always one that could sell better (even if only a fraction), it obviously just needs lots of tweaking.
Theres also no real reason to move too far away from the old style of tour, you can have all of that at the top, keeping the same calls to action, colours and key models and have the newer style underneath, or some variation based on this.

Thank guys, I think he will change it badk to the old tour and see if his sales come back then take it from there. It was very strange.
