Cancun: Sailing the Caribe Maya Riviera (PICS)
Well, not really pics, so how about a link to pics.
Yesterday (Sunday) we decided to take the day off and sail from the Marina to North Beach of the Island. We finally got away around noon and had a 15 knot wind, fished the way over at a nice speed and I caught a nice Barracuda which we took to the restaurant on the beach and had them deep fry for us.
We anchored about 1/4 mile off of the beach and "dove" the anchor (meaning we went to the bottom with it to make sure it was set) and took the inflatable in. Had lunch and headed out.
When we were setting sail to leave the rope for the main sail came off track and I had to sail back on the jib (front sail) only so it was a little slower and we were in 3 to 4 foot troughs to it was a little tough and a 20 knot wind, but a really nice day with minimal sunburn.
The boat is a 29 foot Ranger with a 4 1/2 foot draft, reasonably safe for the open ocean. It belongs to my doctor and we went with him and his wife.
Enjoy.
