Collective Soul : Collective Soul

Nothing shows off a nice stereo like it, no matter how you feel about the music. What amazing imaging.

they are a great band.

their production is amazing. Crystal clear and very defined bottom end. If you got a good stereo it's orgasm in a sound wave. Even crappy systems sound good when cranking that stuff.

I especially like the song "Bleed" for testing out how well a subwoofer responds.

They are local Atlanta Boys. :thumbsup

A much better recorded album is "The Opposite of December" by poison the well. However, you have to have a particular taste for this music to enjoy the album. The sounds are incredibly natural, and very defined.. makes the collective soul album sound like mud -- in fact, makes most albums sound like mud. I use it tune the system in a few of the clubs where I sound engineer.

I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but if you want to get an idea of what an engineer thinks is very good mixing.. go spend 99 cents on a copy of 12-23-93 from that album over at napster.

Also, my buddy Jake is recording Cryptopsy's new album. I expect that to be an engineering marvel.. he's one of Toronto's best. if you've seen any of their shows this tour, you've heard one of Jake's mixes.

White Stripes: Elephant.

Not produced at all, just the band playing. :thumbsup

Not true. Elephant was produced by Jack White on multitrack equipment in two decked out facilities.
