For someone you just met though, or just dated for a while, I notice that a lot of people just stop calling the other person and they stop returning messages. Sucks when it happens to you, but that seems to be the favored way to end it with someone new.

I totally agree with the face to face in the case of anything remotely long-term or serious. In this particular case we just went out for 3 weeks and it wasn't that serious (at least not for me) - I text messaged her - yea, I feel like a bit of a jerk but she's also a drama queen and I honestly didn't want to deal with that shit for such a short-term fling. :(
