I sleep in his dog house most nights to keep things sanitary.

Dogs are social creatures. If you want to keep a dog locked in the yard, and not let it in the house, don't bother getting a dog.

That is a Sugar Glider. They are parsupials, related to Koala bears, and distant relatives of squirells.

i got mine from a friend that breeds them, but there are many places on the internet where you can get them. they cost about $300 bucks, make sure if you are going to get one from the internet, don't buy cheap, there are some shady breeders out there.

as for care requirements, they need fresh fruit and water, cage cleaned, etc about once a day. you need to also give them at least an hour everyday to play with you. tehy are solitary animals, and if left alone too long can become depressed and die. it is best to have them with another glider as a companion (usually of the opposite sex) to keep them from depression.

they are high maintanence in the respect that they need attention and fresh food everyday. vitamen suppliments once a week or so, and some form of protein regularly (i use baby food like mashed turkey, insects, etc.).

but they are really worth it. i wouldn't trade that fucker for anything. they're nocturnal, so i just bring him out at night with me in the office, shut the door, and let him run/glide around my room. they are very personable once they get to know you, but do love to pee on you. it's not much volume though thank god. i think it's affection or teritory marking for him to pee on me though.

they really are some of the coolest animals ever.

i'll bust out some of my glider bookmarks for ya in a second.

My lab LOVED to sleep on my end table! I was afraid to let her do it for too long because I new how big she would get. Hell, if I let her up there now she'd crush the thing, LOL.

We had them at our old house, went over to the shed one night and heard this noise in the air and I looked up and the thing was gliding down to the nearest tree, was so cute. I think its a bit sad when these animals end up all over the world, away from their natural habitat (

yeah it is unfortunate when animals are removed from their natural habitats. but mine was captive bred, and the last of two breeding males. so i took him and gave him a good home.

i do feel guilty keeping him in a cage, but it's for his own safety, and he is well cared for.

rest assured i would never buy anything that was wild caught, or from a breeder that didn't care for their animals.

a breeder cares about animals like a farmer loves cows. Putting money in any breeders pocket is a sin.

you obviously haven't looked at many glider breeders. there are ones who will personally fly the glider to your town, and interview you, before they let you have it.
