Mushy Peas...a curiously British food

but yet not actually all that bad. I just wonder what the reaction of the average American would be if it showed up on their plate next to their fries.

ah, have to love international cusine

who 04-08-2005 12:56 PM

I grew up eating something to that effect occasionally.. so for me, it's good tucker.

BTW what 'average american' do you mean? The fast food addict?

sumphatpimp 04-08-2005 01:00 PM

Yep, while watching football and drinking beer. Of course forgetting to brush their teeth before going out to watch the game.

Everyone also dresses like Austin Powers and says "shag", "arse" and "wanker" 100 times an hour.

um...the number one dish in the UK is Chicken Tikka Masalla.

That said, there is nothing wrong with fish and chips.

3 important tips when trying to get near sheep for personal pleasure..

1) dont wear shoes.. makes too much noise

2) unzip ur pants before u approach sheep..

3) velcro gloves make the task easier (use ur imagination on this one)

crimped at the side or on the top?

My friend over here is originally from Cornwall and said something to me once about there being a place in Michigan that makes a big deal out of doing pasties.

No... no... no... cream together butter and golden syrup and let it melt on the pudding. A little custard too is okay, but the syrup/butter mix is a must.

As to mushy peas, well of course the canned variety is only a distant relation of what the fish and chip "oyles" in Lancashire sold when I was a kid. Still my family over here get very upset if I serve fish and chips without them.

well, the last chippie I was in that sold them were using the same canned brand I buy so I figured I was okay. Chips with curry sauce isn't that bad either.
