Why do people complain about airbrushing?

We are in a biz of creating fantasy...and when it's appropriate air brushing is needed.
We are also selling a product. It's as if people here who were selling a car wouldn't wash and wax it then vacuum it out before showing it to the public.
It's a silly complaint IMO.

CDSmith 04-08-2005 10:38 AM

I've airbrushed so many zits off of girls asses and faces it's insane. But there will always be certain complaints being made about all the "airbrushed bimbos" on the web, just like all those who gripe about all the fake titted bimbos etc.

People love to complain.

I will complain on a personal note, but not as a person who is marketing a product. If whatever alteration is necessary to sell that product is made and increases the interest in that product...then I'm a happy businessman.

cuz it's deceptive, I think. washing, waxing, etc a car before selling is different thatn taking a photo of it and only showing the good side, but hiding the dented side, which is kinda what airbrushing does.

sweetcuties 04-08-2005 10:42 AM

I don't do it, never have... never will

You always clean up a product before you put it up for sale.
I spent 5 years working in hollywood...worked on hundreds of model shoots commercials etc.
Food prepared for commercials is done in special kitchens. They even have a special iron that puts grill marks on steaks, burgers chicken etc.
They use a chemical along with an activator that gives you the steam rising from a baked potato.
In Cigarette commercials *for Europe* and photoshoots they use a larger version of the product..the list goes on.
All selling is deceptive to a degree..it's just part of selling.

I wish girls were airbrushed in real life.

I said "when appropriate."
You do amateur teen niche..you want the girls to look exactly like they would if you walked next door and found them hanging out on the porch.
But you do use makeup, and lighting....so you are still dressing them up a bit.

StuartD 04-08-2005 10:46 AM

airbrushing is like fake tits....

if it's done to enhance, it'll still look alright and attractive.

if it's done to excess, it'll look plastic and fake and while still attractive to many, it's a turn off to others.

Agreed fully.

I think most of the complaints regarding airbrushing occur when someone posts a pic of an average "girl-next-door" type model, then some idiot comes on and calls her ugly or posts the *puke* smiley. That prompts someone (like me?) to come on and say thank God that all girls on the web aren't cookie-cutter airbrushed bimbos..... or something along those lines.

I don't think it's a slam on those of us who like to fix up or content, it's a slam on the idiots who seem to think that all women MUST have flawless skin, perfect 36D tits, and have less than 10% body fat. And, there are a lot of those idiots on here I'm afraid.

Tipsy 04-08-2005 10:53 AM

As above - airbrushing done well to remove maybe a genuienly ugly zit etc etc looks great. Airbrushing done to excess fucks a girl up and makes her look 'plastic'.

It's simply a matter of getting the balance right.

Wiggles 04-08-2005 10:57 AM

i prefer natural women, not fake looking women.

NaughtyRob 04-08-2005 11:02 AM

People over do it. (Matrix)

hydro 04-08-2005 11:05 AM

I think your average surfer preffers airbrush but maybe we don't since we see tons of girls airbrushed every day and got bored with it. I get a boner faster by looking at a girl in a short skirt and tight shirt than i do just seeing her ass :(

iwantchixx 04-08-2005 11:17 AM

I think it's a needed thing with ALL forms of content, but the trick is to know when to put the healing brush DOWN. Some people go overboard and create plastic models. I just do it to clean up complexion enough so attention is drawn to the model's good parts and not tot hat giant red sore on her inner thighs and connect the dot cancerous moles on her chest etc. The trick is to do it so the girl's freckle and natural skin tone are still intact. It's not something everyone can do. Most people ruin the girl and make them 'fake'. Just make them presentable and leave it at that. A little sharpness goes a long way too for giving that natural skin look.

jayeff 04-08-2005 11:19 AM

Suspecting a pic may have been airbrushed, if you think about it at all because the girl's skin seems too flawless, is one thing. One particular content provider (but I won't mention names since they are not the only ones guilty of it), turns many of the girls almost into clowns by heavy-handed airbrushing. I think it's this approach which earns the bad name and a lot of us object to.

tranza 04-08-2005 11:21 AM

I would never complain about that. Even Playboy uses this tool.

Mutt 04-08-2005 11:26 AM

because the truth is most males want to see real girls/women naked - within reason, zits and all. if u compared the amount of money generated by 'real chicks' vs. airbrushed glamour chicks on the Net it would be 90/10 in favor of the amateurs.

reality sells, personality sells.

People love to complain.

Airbrushing and touching up(removing spots etc) are 2 diffetent things imho.

I don't mind touching up, but I hate fully repainting a girl.
But like someone else over here said, that's a personal taste. For work it's OK because it sells.

xclusive 04-08-2005 11:43 AM

Airbrushing is the most useful designer tool because a lot of these ladies need to be made to look hot:)
