numb left hand...

specifically my pinkie, ring finger and the outside edge of my palm. it started earlier tonight, but won't go away. don't think it's carpal tunnel (i had that issue a couple of years ago, and this doesn't seem the same). i don't spend all that much time at a computer these days either. any idea what it might be?

Ah YES seriously. If you start to feel some numbness in your face, dial 911.

Are you positive it couldn't be this carpal tunnel syndrome?

Meta Ridley 04-08-2005 07:11 AM

Parkinsons, MS,,, you're probably going to die.

quiet 04-08-2005 07:13 AM

it's not spreading. pretty sure it's not carpal. after thinking about this some more, there was a time a couple of weeks ago when i had the same feeling, but it went away after a couple of hours.

been up all night, was just about to go to bed, i guess maybe i shouldn't... bah.

Early signs of a brain tumor.

foxylady 04-08-2005 07:14 AM

see your doctor, so you will know what happen to you

LauraLee 04-08-2005 07:17 AM

Quiet, seriously go see your doc a.s.a.p... if you can't get in i would think about the ER, just in case. Numb hand is one of the most obvious signs of a possible stroke.
Of course, this could easily be nothing, BUT it's never worth rolling those dice.

PhoenixFyre 04-08-2005 07:18 AM

It sounds like it could be a problem with the "ulna nerve" (commonly known as the funny bone when you hit your elbow). Have you hit your elbow recently? I had that problem back in '79 and the nerve had attached itself to the bone in my elbow. They had to do surgery to detach the nerve and relocate it so it wasn't as vulnerable. It never hurts to have it checked out as soon as possible, however, I think if it were a stroke it would not just be one of the nerves affected, and the whole hand/arm would be giving you a lot of trouble. Good luck and let us know what it is.

I get numbness on occasion, it usually stems from sitting with my elbows on my desk (hard surface) for extended periods of time. Also, I have a moderate case of carpal tunnel. The numbness comes and goes, and I only get it about once a year at most. If you have been staring at your monitor w/ your elbow on your desk, or keyboard, maybe consider getting one of those gel pads.

First thing that came to my mind....

If your whole arm and or face start to get numb its time to see a doctor yes hehe.
Anyway, this will be over most likely today or in a few days max.
It can be caused by so many things. Simply wrong position in bed, too much alchohol, xtc usage and tons of other things. I had it a few months ago, lasted a few days. My buddy had it as well a while back, he visited the doctor...he told him theres nothing he could do about it but wait.

perfect time for a stranger!

errr.. then I'd go see a doc

seroiusly tho... I've had that happen to me, just like you explained ... it eventually went away, but if it's persistent, I'd make a trip in to the ER just to get it checked out and be sure.

sumphatpimp 04-08-2005 10:42 AM

jerk off with the other hand.
you'll be fine.
thats why they call it "repetitve stress injury."
