What did you think of the West Wing this season?
Who do you think will win the campaign next season?
Or I'm wondering if they're going to have the campaign at all....or just skip to the next presidency. Rumor is next season is the last one, and they had to drop the price per episode by half to get NBC to carry it for a 7th season. |
this last episode was fucking amazing....that speech that jimmy smits made gave me chills
i fucking love that show, i hope it doesn't go away....i mean, we already lost NYPD Blue, which sucked ass |

That was awesome as well. I love this show....just got the 4th season on DVD yesterday. I think it would be a cool change of pace to have a republican president and keep the show going that way....but I'm still gonna root for Jimmy Smits |
The first couple seasons I used to watch religiously. I haven't seen it in years, but last night I came across it and decided to watch. The speech by Smits was fantastic.
I need to go back and start watching from the beginning again. |
I never started watching it until last year....there were a couple years that I worked so much I NEVER watched TV.
When it started coming on Bravo every day is when I started watching....and I liked it so much I bought every season that's out on DVD so far. |
This season was the best. I found myself waiting on Monday for Wednesday
to come to watch this show. FYI: I'm not a democrat by any means but the show was good drama and it showed how good people get dragged and pushed into positions they don't believe in. |

i bet the ratings would go up with a republican |

I think they did a good job presenting both sides of the issues without demonizing either side. The did demonize a few characters in the show....but any drama will do that. Of course my republicans friends refer to the show as the "left wing"....LOL But I didn't think it was that far from center. |
The West Wing is an awesome show - I absolutely love it and Tivo it as well as own all the DVD's.
One of the girls that works with my wife has a sister who is on the show (she is the short brown haired girl in the Santos campaign) - she was talking to Josh alot last night with the sunglasses on. Anyways, while she would not give out any details about what is going to happen, she did mention to her sister that all of the current actors on the show have been signed for another season. I'd love it if Santos won but having Republicans in the White House this time around would also be a great "shake-up" for the show. That said, I don't want alot of the characters I've come to love go away. The bigger question is who do you think leaked the shuttle info? |

It's great if everyone is signed for another season....that means the season will be all about the campaign. A republican prez would be a great shake-up....but I'd like to see Josh as chief of staff and Donna have his old job....hell I'd love to see Sam Seaborn come back but I guess that won't happen. He's probably my favorite character. |
Damnit now I have to ask, what happened to Sam? I seriously haven't seen this in probably 4 years. I'm missing out on everything!

Well Sam went to California to run for congress in Orange County. (Looonnnggg story there) Anyways he was expected to lose, and then return to the white house. There was even talk between Toby and Leo about promoting him when he returned. The last episode with Sam in it was when the President made a campaign appearance for him....then after that there's no mention of him in any episode ever again. I need to watch the extras that came with the complete 4th season to see if they had a story for why he didn't come back but then decided not to use it. |
Quote:
actually, there has been no sighting of Sam since Toby told him he was going to lose the election...so, shit, i don't know....i am wondering now too can you all believe that last moment in the last show when josh asked leo to be vice president???? how fucked up was that...i just got chills thinking about it now what a great fucking episode |

Seriously though...it would be great to see him on the show again, but I'm not holding my breath. |
I think it is definately better lately. For a while it got into the other characters to often and I don't give a flying fuck about his speech writers personal life...

The original plan was to have the president make very rare cameo appearances, because the show centered around "all the president's men" But Sheen did such a good job playing the president that they wrote him a bigger role. |
Here's my understanding from a couple of friends who have some decent television connections.
It is apparently going to be one of two ways for the next season (I don't know if next year is the last or not, but there will be at least one more season of "The West Wing" 1)The first think I heard was that it has been set for Alan Alda to be the President, and we would get to see what it is like to be in the West Wing with a Republican President. 2)THEN..just last week, someone told me the LATEST idea being mulled over by NBC is to let the VIEWERS vote on who they want to be prez..Smits or Alda..maybe it will be one of those "American Idol" thing where you call in on an 800 # and vote for your fav. Just an fyi. P.S. Martin Sheen WILL be back in a few guest starring episodes next year. |
